I've been flying some Falcon 4/SP3 MP together with some mates lately, using the latest TS2 version for communication. Or rather, they've been flying while I've been trying to sort out my comms problems:) . I can hear the other guys just fine over TS, but my mic is muted. If I close down Falcon 4, the mic works just fine. I have recording set to "Wave" in TS, simply because it won't let me select DirectSound. Falcon uses wave, too, so if I start TS, everything then works, then I start F4, and I get no sound in the sim whatsoever, just the sound from TS when someone's talking. If I try setting TS to use DirectSound as sound driver, then exit the options menu, it's either reset the next time I open the options, or I get an error message saying that "the resource or priority level already is in use by another caller," even though no other programs are running.
All this happens regardless of what hardware acceleration level I set my sound to.

My system specs:
AMD Athlon 1GHz
512mb Ram
GeForce 4 ti4400 with 45.23 drivers
Hercules Gamesurround Muse XL sound card. I've tried several different driver sets with no luck whatsoever.
Win98SE
DirectX 9.0b

My TSClient.log file. What I did was to open TS and try to select DirectSound in the options, then I closed TS again:

If it does not let you select direct sound, then you do not have the latest directX or sound drivers installed. Or your install is corrupt.
(Or the hercules drivers for win98se are crap. Win98se is not so good supported any more).
Either way, try to reinstall directx and your sound drivres (with the latest versions of cause).
