View Full Version : Help with connecting to a specific server

Ok, i'm having some problems connecting to my clanserver. Every time i want to connect I get the message that the server doesn't respond, that it might be offline, etc..

First off, i have no firewalls up, no virusscanners, only a router ( Planet xDSL/Cable Router ) with built in NAT which provides a firewall, but I don't think this is the cause of my problem.

But the problem is, it's the only server I can't connect to. I have the latest version of ts2 RC2 client ( 2.0.32.60 ) and I never had any troubles with it.

As I understand, it isn't necessary that I forward the IP since I'm the client, not the host. And the IP exists and is correct ( practically all members of the clan can join it except 1 other than me ).

My question is: is the problem on my side or on the host it's side? And if it is on my side, how can I solve it? I've spent 3 and a half hours searching trough the forums ( 93 pages of topics  ), but it seems that all possible solutios regarding this problem doesn't solve mine. Plz help, we're in a constant period of clanwars, and I'm one of the few who paid for the server, but can't connect.

Thx in advance, greet from Blood

your right, as client you should not need a port forwarding rule.

1) Can you ping the IP of this specific server ?
2) Have you checke the FAQ thread: http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6418
3) Could you set your Client into DEBUG mode, restart it (important !) and try it again ? Maybe a copy of your log file could help us too ?

Ok so I don't haver to worry about forwarding. Now:

1) No, I can't ping the IP, but they explained to me that it is their firewall, as protection vs. DOS attacks.

2) Yes I've read that post, but it is the primary IP address of the server

3) Here is the Error message in the Log:
23-01-04 11:18:44,1424,ERROR,ProcedureInfo,Client Open,Exception: Timeout on recv LoginStep2 wait

Debug mode ( yes, I've restarted ) doesn't help as well. Adjusting Wave/Direct Sound and Direct sound buffer size doesn't do anything either.

Does that mean that you use NAT as a firewall, or that in addition to NAT the router has a firewall/packet filter.
If the latter is the case then you might have to open some (quite a few) ports in the firewall for the client.

BC|Blood state that it is the only server he can not connect to (please confirm that again) and I don't assume that this specific IP is blocked in his firewall (but this gets better checked).

So they block ICMP request (=> you get not ping answer), but could you try with a port scanner (e.g. nmap) to see if the TS server port is open to you ?

an other point: is there a newer firmware for your router available ?

If you're already testing, could you download the 57 client and try with this one (see dev section) ?

Ah, ok if he can connect to other servers no problem, then it is more likely a server or ISP problem.

But he should keep testing to be sure.
