I have searched and its not that clear. Although I do admit I could suffering from N00bness.

I have been testing my TS server using all the different codec to quality and bandwidth.

CELP 6.3 means that its using 6.3Kbits per second
So am I right in thinking that Speex5.2 uses 5.2Kbits per second?

Also is this constant or only when talking?
What I mean is if I have 20ppl on my server and using Speex5.2 and only one person is talking does this mean that only 5.2Kbits is being used?

What is the bandwidth usage for idle ppl? does the client check to see if the server is still active every second or something?

Lastly..in the client you can set the upload and download. If this is set high and yet the server is only using Speex5.2 does this make any difference or will the client only be able to use 5.2Kbits?

Thanks

You're dead-on Watson.

Neglegible, unless you have 10000 people on your server :)

It's just upstream/downstream capping to prevent teamspeak from hogging precious transfer rate.... if 25kbit in the worst case is a problem for you that is.

Haertbeat (idle) bandwidth usage is about 320 bit/s = 40byte/s per user.

The upstream at the client will never exeed the bandwidth usage of the selected codec.
However that downstrem can be more if more than one person is talking at the same time (2 persons talking = double downstream). The bandwidth cap in the client is for that reasons (if you have a 56k modem or ISDN).
