Running Teamspeak behind a Router

Hello,

I recently bought a new laptop and wished to connect to the internet on it, so after struggling with wired LAN's I decided to go wireless. I bought a Microsoft 801.11g router/base station and a wireless card for my laptop. I set them all up and they work awesome. It's quite fun to be able to walk around the house and still talk to people online. Anyways. I used to host a teamspeak server off my main computer for my online clan, and after I installed the router it seems I can no longer host a TS server. This is no big deal since I plan on buying a TS server soon, but in the meantime is there ANY way for me to have my wireless network and be able to host Teamspeak? You have to setup a port forwarding of port 8767 UDP to the computer that runs the server at the router (you will have to forward a port for any server you may run for your clan, including game servers).
Consult your router manual on how to do that (chances are good that they call it VirtualServer, Open Ports, Port Redirection or Port Trigger. I am sorry, but every vendor uses another name for that).

I found what you were talking about. It's called Persistant Port Forwarding or Application Triggered Port Forwarding. Problem is they dont tell me how to set it up. It asks for a outbound port, a tcp or udp trigger type and an inbound port. I set them both to 8767 and set for UDP, still not working :(

make sure you forward incoming UDP 8767 to the correct internal IP address of the TS-server.

Also try getting your machines off DHCP and put them on a fixed IP

Reboot your router after you've done the port-forwarding .

Do a search in the forums for a Microsoft router, somewhere it rings a bell, think that someone else had problems with it some weeks ago

Finally, call microsoft support and give them hell. (How the hell can you buy a piece of hardware from a company that hardly knows how to make decent software, it's like buying an office-suite from Cisco :D )

you know dude this is sad because im going through the same thing and the problem all i need to do is find out how to get the outgoing port!

I know this post is kind of old but setting up TS on wifi as a server really is not very effective in my experience. A wired server is really the only way to go. Seems the way the wifi communicates can make the server pretty choppy.

Router just needs the port opened on UDP btw.
