Sadly, yes ...
.. there is plenty of hacking software available (wont be giving out addresses!) and i dont like it either.
Most hackers are good , though the crackers are the bad guys as we call them all.
They use programs to find ips and then they connect through several subnets and send port scans at extensive speeds to get into your system or server.
Thiough mosdt of the time they know languages such as pythion and java, possibly C++ and VB
Your better off getting yourself a firewall

hi pulsegameing.com has firewalls
Hahahaha,
The kind of FUD (= Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) is precicly the wrong attitude to attack a problem. Please inform yourself before you try to answer a subject, instead of posting some items that are...FUD.
(1) A so called Hacker, is a programmer. It has nothing to do with gaining access to systems that you should not (see -> http://info.astrian.net/jargon/terms/h.html#hacker [especially note point 8. which states the use of hacker you are applying as depreciated] )
(2) A cracker is somebody that (mostly illegaly) forces access on systems he should not have any access ( see -> http://info.astrian.net/jargon/terms/c.html#cracker )
Then about the omnious firewall...
An attacker can gain access to your systems in many ways...but all involve your stupidity to let him in. Examples:
(1) Executing mallicous executables [for example stuff sent through emails] without thinking.
(2) Running services for the internet that are exploitable.
About (2): A normal home PC should not have _any_ services running for the internet (services are things like webservers, gameservers, email servers, teamspeak servers, printing servers). If this is true, a firewall will not help you in your quest (it wont help at all), since all a firewall can prevent is somebody exploiting service that you have listening to the internet accidently. (which should not happen in the first place). On the other hand if you want some services to be visible to the internet, you will open the specific ports in your firewall anyways, and thereby letting the potential attacker exactly the same starting point as without a firewall.
So, one can say that a personal firewall will make a properly configured system stay as safe or unsafe as it is. Only for a system configured wrongly can it add protection. (but then again, you will configure the firewall badly too, propably, and eliminate its use again :P)
