hi all. Can someone please tell me how do i see my IP address on linux? I want to put a server running on it, but i don't know my ip, so i can't enter the configuration page. thanks

You forget to tell me that ifconfig only works as root.
As a non-root user you need to type the full path:
/sbin/ifconfig
