sound distortion

when I try to talk to my friend, he can't hear me at all and he sound very distorted to me. What should I do?

important as well:

- what bandwith (UP AND DOWN) both of you have ?
- which codec is selected
- can you record with the win wave recorder (I assume you have windwos as you post in the wrong forum and tell us not what OS you use)
- does the TS locale loopback mode works on your system ?
