I have the most recent copy of TS2 Client installed on my Windows machine. It's a 3Ghz P4 with 1G of Ram. I've been using TS2 for the last few weeks and until the other day, it has performed great. The other day I tried to launch it while forgetting that my headphones were not attached. I got the following error message:

TDSoundOut.Open(DirectSoundCreate): No sound driver is available for use.

Ever since then, after I plugged in my headphones, when I try to launch TS2 I get the headphones icon in the symtray but the main console window NEVER appears. I thought maybe I just needed to restart my computer. Well I did that and I got the same thing with the headphones in the lower left hand portion of the screen. I can get to the menu associated with the headphones and when I select connect or quick connect, I get nothing. I then went to the Task Manager and I see the teamspeak.exe process running and I've killed it from there and attempted to start it again and again NOTHING.

So my next idea was to uninstall the client and go back to the webpage and download it again and reinstall it. Again, headphones show up but nothing else happens.

Please if anyone has any ideas or has seen this let me know. I didn't wipe out anything from the Registry yet - I didn't know where to look exactly but I'm hoping someone else has a solution. I'm in a BFV/BF42 clan and TS is a must have!!!

Thanks

Hi to you both,

There is a configuration file that Teamspeak uses that sometimes seems to get corrupted.

Search your HD for a file called "Teamspeak.conf" and delete it when Teamspeak is not running.

Hope that helps,

@FlyingIrishMan

1) did you really installed the client, not the server ?

2) teamspeak.conf is a hidden file in your "own Files" folder.

Hi all,

On my WinXP system, the "Teamspeak.conf" file is located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\teamspeak2\

On a Win9x system, the file will be somewhere else. Probably in the Windows or Windows\Profiles directory or a subdir of one of those.

You installed the server or the client FlyingIrishMan?

The client can be found here: ftp://webpost.teamspeak.org/releases/ts2_client_rc2_2032.exe

In a client if you double click the icon by your clock (systray), it should come up. Unless it's a corruption issue with the conf file, like Brain stated.

I had the same problem, so I started a thread on it. However, I never checked back on the thread, because I fixed it not long after I posted. I believe I removed ts, reboot, then reinstalled ts. Not really sure, i'm pc tech and I change things on my pc and update different things all the time, so I really can't remember how I fixed it, because around the same time, I was having problems with BF1942 crashing, played fine on here forever and one day started getting the Blue Screen Of Death(bsod) right after BF1942 splash screen. So I tested different versions of drivers for sound and video to get it working the smoothest, but it was sound card causing the BSOD problem with BF1942.

However you can CLICK HERE (http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?p=72038) and this might fix if anyone is having the same "TDSoundOut.Open(DirectSoundCreate)" error when using TS.
