I am trying to run a TS server and people keep getting an error msg No reply from server Maybe the server is offline or maybe teamspeak is not running on it when they try to connect. I have looked through the forums for info on how to set up port forwarding for windows xp with no router but cant find it. can anyone tell me how to open the port i need or if i have another problem. I have no router and the firewall is open.

well the computer that is doing the ICS (internet connection sharing) should be the one running TS. My suggestion is get a router either way.

there is no computer doing ICS because i only have the 1 computer. if the only way to fix it is with a router that would make it easier but i was wondering if there was a way to do it without a router

Hi TheCaptain,
Which firewall do you use? Apparently some people have been reporting problems with ZoneAlarm still blocking the connection even when it is supposedly "turned off".

The only firewall im running is the default internet firewall that comes with windows xp. I have turned the firewall off completely and they still cant connect.
Hi Captain,
Even if you dont have a router, most internet broadband connections have some kind of a firewall functionality
Either directly on your pc, like ICS or Zone-Alarm, or on your xDSL/Cable modem. Maybe even both
Make sure you understand the gear that's in your network, check the manuals and try to find that firewall. If found, it will also contain pointers how to open certain ports

I want to chime in here as I am having a similar problem running Team speak. If I start the server and configure ZA to allow server funtion all is well until I leave it on overnight. At some point something, I assume ZA, is closing the internet door and outside users can't connect, however if I try the client on the same box I can connect. I also have a second box on the same cable modem via hub and separate IP from the ISP and I can connect sometimes after a long (~12-24 hrs) period between users on the server. Some times not. I then have to close & reopen the padlock on ZA, sometimes on the server box but also occasionally on the client box and today I could not connect unless I did a reboot ( T-bird 1.4 ghz, 256MB ram, 140 GB raid 0, OS=XP).
I'm confuzed. :o
Any TS server / ZA interface gurus in 'da house?
