View Full Version : Can only log into server from LAN side, server not found WAN side - possible fix

After a week of not being able to get a response out of my server from outside of my network and reading all of these threads, I tried forwarding the TCP query port (51234) to my server IP. Suddenly my server worked from both WAN and LAN sides of my network. Before that I had the 8767 port forwarded (and server set to read that port). The TCP query port forwarding was the only thing I changed between tests. My router is the D-Link DI-514. Hopefully this will help a few other people as well.

I have the router DI-614+ and this worked for me as well

My TS server won't work as well outside my LAN, but I am not sure how to forward my port, could anyone tell me how to do that?

Thanks

I'm running Windows XP Pro and have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router, (WRT54G)

@Jobberwocky

1) e.g. www.broadbandreports.com is a router forum. This forum isn't it.
Or why not have a look into your routers manual ?

2) even the search function in this forum lists some threads with your router typ. You should do a search next time before posting. For an example, this is one thread: http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5423&highlight=WRT54G

I have the same router as you,
What did you use to forward those ports?
Special Applications, Virtual Server, Firewall, DMZ, what?

I have my DMZ set to my IP, and all of them are set to let that port through to me and I still am not able to have outsiders connect.

I had the outside clients turn on Debug Mode and they can connect now.

What does Debug mode do to allow connections like that go through!?

Thats a VERY GOOD question I would like to know as well !
I guess it must have to do something with a timeout setting

By looking it up in the server.ini
It's the entry that says "AdminEmail".

Nah, just joking, it's the entry reading "TCPQueryPort"......

Just a side note to my last post... I'm not sure anymore if forwarding the query port had anything to do with getting my setup to work or not. After I forwarded the query port, it worked, but the DI-514 router has some of the worst firmware ever (the newest stuff, like v1.02). A few weeks after I had it working, I completely reset my router and entered the TS2 ports to be forwarded again(exactly the same as before) and it didn't work. I switched both ports to forward both UDB and TCP, and then immediately changed them back again and it worked. Bottom line, if you are using a D-Link router and you can't get forwarding to work, keep playing with it because sometimes the settings don't work correctly the first time.

You must use "Vertual Server".
