View Full Version : After five users it breaks up.
Hello,
Currently on my server if more than 5 people are in a channel and 1 person begins to talk to the other people it sounds broken up. If there are four people this problem does not occur. I've tried most every codec but nothing seems to be working. Im running the teamspeak server on the following:
------------------------------------------------
CPU - 564 Mhz Intel Celeron Processor
RAM - 320 MB DDR
Connection - Road Runner Cable
(GSM 16.4 Codec)
------------------------------------------------
Could someone help me out? Thanks in advance.
Howmuch upload bandwidth does "roadrunner cable" have? I'm just guessing that your internet connection does not have the ressources to handle sending out 5 streams....
Another thing though.. with 5 users and still only "1" user talking at a time its breaking up. But when it had 4 users its perfect no breakups at all.
Still not fixed.. anyone have any idea's?
give us some hard facts, how do ping and packetloss behave?

Remember that you can select a codec in your TeamSpeak client and server, but that they both act differently. The codec in the server sets the codec that everyone will use, but the codec in your client is ONLY used in the local test mode.
Try creating a new channel, and then in that channel-creation-window set a different (lower) codec (maybe CELP 5.1 KBit). This may sound kind of robotty, but if this works with more that 5 people then the problem was that you have reached your upload bandwidth.
Your only solutions then are to either increase your upload or experiment with different codecs. Be aware that you can change the codec while everyone is in that channel, you do not have to create a new channel.
Another few things i neglected to mention. First the server was working perfectly. I could have alot of people in 1 channel and it worked fine. A friend of mine was having trouble connecting and pointed out on the teamspeak site that there was a new server version out. I upgraded and then the sound quality was bad. Was the same codec's and everything. After that i downgraded the server back to where it was but it was still messed up. The thing is it absolutely cannot be my bandwidth. I tested it today with 7 people in 1 channel. I was the only person talking and no one else was in any other channel talking. It still was broken up.
Seems to be fixed. All I did was switch it to the lower codec (GSM 14.8 Kbit).
For some reason it just seemed to be a (GSM 16.4) problem for me.
Anyways id like to thank you guys for your input.
