Hello all,
I am trying to figure out how to get my Mic working correctly in TeamSpeak (2.0.32.60) & CounterStrike (Steam & 1.6) using a Hoontech Digital XG Soundcard (Latest 5245 Drivers) (Link Here (http://www.hoontech.com/english/products/xg.html) )
(Using Windows 98 SE)
The problem I have is this:
If I run TeamSpeak before starting Counterstrike, I cannot talk in CounterStrike, if I start CounterStrike then TeamSpeak, I cannot talk in TeamSpeak.

If running TS second, TS gives the error:
"WaveInOpen specified resource is already allocated"

If running CS second, CS gives the error:
"Unable to initialize DirectSoundCapture. Trying waveIn.MMSYSTEM004 The specified device is already in use. Wait until it is free, and then try again.
Unable to initialize wave input. You won't be able to speak to other players through a microphone"

I've tried doing all sorts with regards to TS and CS but nothing I try seems to work, anyone got any ideas?

Any questions just ask, in case I've missed something.

Does switching TS to DirectSound help?

I've tried both Wave & DirectSound, switching to 8 bit, push to talk, voice activation, nothing seems to work.
If I try to run TS second and then switch the sound settings and OK them, I get the same error.
It's as if Windows is saying that only 1 device is allowed to use the Microphone at any one time.

Any ideas?

Only one idea:
Use your onboard sound or a separate cheap (or old) sound card for TS.
This comes with the additional bonus of separating voice communication and game sounds.

If I was using 2 seperate sound cards, would i not then need 2 seperate Mic's to plug into each Mic port?

Yes.

Errrm, this isn't the solution I was looking for, thanks anyway.

Plenty of other people seem to have TeamSpeak working along with CounterStrike quite happily using their 1 soundcard, so I was just wondering what it is in terms of software/hardware that either I am missing or have not enabled somewhere perhaps.
Like I said previously it's as if Windows is saying that only 1 program is allowed to use the Microphone at a time.*

* I said device before I realise this may be misleading. I am NOT suggesting two programs use the Mic at the exact same time, just that when the activation of the Mic happens then either program can use it (TeamSpeak or CounterStrike).
As it stands at the moment only one can use it and the other throws an error as previously stated.

Thanks,

I've got exactly the same problem.
Once I start a program that uses a SoundInput it keeps the SoundInputStream and doesnt release it until I close it ....
As far as I know the only OS that definitely solves this problem without having multiple soundcards installed is Windows XP Pro (maybe all XPs).
I haven't heard of a fix for other systems.
Anyway if someone has got a fix for W2k I'd be glad to have it posted here ...
