Hi ppl.
I got here a litle big prob.
I have TS2 rc2 installed on my computer.
my O.S. is Fedora Core1.
I can run TS, I can enter in any server...
But wend i'm on it i can't hear or speak to anyone.
the problem looks to be that I have the mike and phones muted but i can unmute them.

can anyone give me some help in this?

Thanks in advance...

I take it you are running both client AND server on the same machine, which should not be a problem

So if the client runs on Fedora too, which is exactly what I have done, there are some problems with the recognition and drivers for sound related hardware, like the card and the microphone

Also I found that running the "old" Fedora, gave me better hardware support than running the latest 1.92 which is also advertised as 2.1 or 2.2

thanx for the reply m8.
but no...I'm not running TS server on this machine yet.
I'm running only the TS2 RC2 Client.

I think of the driver problem...but no...thats not the problem becose I already tested my mic and phone capability, and both worked without TS.
like I speak to the mic and i can hear miself on the phones.
I can hear mp3 and wave. I can whatch movies with sound...etc...etc...etc...

I already uninstall TS and install it again...but nothing...

still self muted...

:(

thanks for your try.
if any other idea you are welcome to say it.

thank you all.

pim, my I have installed Fedore Core 1 too and have the same problem with latest TS Client.

Let me make it more clear:
as Ciberian_Wolf said, TS mutes both mic and speakers when is started with default sound settings.
In Settings->Options in Sound Devices tab i chose default network (8780:L) as the Sound Driver. When I pressed Apply mic and speaker became unmuted, but i didn't hear not a single sound in speakers, and the my voice wasn't transmitted to server.
BTW, what is "default network" mode?

I had the exact same problem with redhat 9.0. You will need to install ALSA drivers, libs and utils. Follow the thread " TeamSpeak on Linux RedHat 9.0". Arv

I have exactly the same problem as you both.

My sound works all the way fine except TeamSpeak: watching videos, hearing sound, gaming, i also hear myself when i speak, so mic is not muted. I tried the sticky guide from this forum, but it doesnt help.
I tried everything in my /dev/sound as device but nothing... :(

My rig:
Mandrake 10.0 Official
asus a7n8x-deluxe (nforce2 onboard sound)

Teamspeak is the only reason that windows still exists on my hd :D
A bit help would be nice :)

I've got the same problem, also Mandrake 10.0. I can hear myself, i can see nick lighten up in TS when i use "push to talk" i can hear everyone, but they can't hear me :(. I'm trying to find out what the problem is... let me know if you have an sollution...

Well I found a way to fix this problem for me on Mandrake 9.2. I changed the device to /dev/sound/dsp . Also I had to make sure I had the correct driver installed. If path isn't /dev/sound/dsp or the driver is bad, Teamspeak will mute both Mic and Speakers.

Schmiel: Make sure you don't have your Gain turned to 0 in aumix. Doing this caused my mic to be muted.

n4pfkuch3n: Umm...I have no idea why yours won't work if you already tried /dev/sound/dsp. See if you can use a different driver. Sorry for the lack of help there.

For everyone with onboard sound cards: You may want to get a different one, becuase from what I have seen the mic input picks up all the interference from the processer. You'll get some static in the background when your processer is idle, and you won't be understandable when doing anything that requires the processor.

I have the same problem where it shows my speakers as muted however I cant unmute them. Im running an IBM thinkpad 380z. Here is my system.

Debian "Testing"
Kernel = custom 2.6.6
sound module = OSS cs4232

the sound card is not listed in `lspci` so I had to use `lspnp` in order to find out what card it is.
I load the module with `modprobe cs4232 irq=5 io=0x0530 dma=0` the sound works outside of TS, so I don't know whats going on, and I dont know enough to troubleshoot any further. Let me know if I can provide any other information.

Hi guys,
I'm having the same issue it seams. I've been fighting with this for a few weeks now. I'm using mandrake 10, ac 97, and I don't get any audio in or out. The little green dot (that is supposed to light up when its transmitting audio) doesn't do anything. I also tried seting up push-to-talk to F12, and it still doesn't light up. I extracted some error information from my log file (hopefully it will help someone):

12-06-04 21:10:20,23687,ERROR,All,TOSSioThread.execute,Exce ption EOSSException: OSS error in InputSound: Input/output error

I wish I knew what that meant :o
But there are a whole bunch of those that are exactly the same in that file. My client doesn't even play the computer sounds (ie. "Link Activated" or whatever by that female computer voice that anounces stuff). When I connect to a server or dissconect or whatever. Also, if I try to activate the local test mode, the green dot there doesn't light up either. I think (but I can remember for sure) isn't that light suppose to light up? And I think if the test runs properly, it just plays some little sound over and over until you deactivate it.
This may sound like an odd quesiton, but does anyone think maybe this has something to do with the codec support in linux? Perhaps there is a seperate package of codecs to install before TeamSpeak is installed?

I fixed mine by using `alsaconf` to install and run the alsa stuff. it worked! at first I only got audio and no mic, so I tryed a different kernel module and that worked...
