View Full Version : Server Feature: Registered Users only.
Yup, I know you can add a password to the server, but I thought it might be easier to just add in the ability to control who can get on my only allowing registered users to log in.
You can do this
Edit the ServerFlags line in the server.INI file to one of the below:
0= no register, no create channel
1= can register, no create channel
2= all can create channels
3= all can register/all can create channel
(register being authenticate with the server) (when set to 0 text
You can use 0 to prevent users from registereing without permission.
ADMIN: move this message to the english server forum.

That doesn't change or perform what he/she meant.
Android is asking for an option so that only registered members can join. It's redundant, and they answered their own question. Just put some password on the server, in server.ini:
ServerPassword=something
It doesn't matter what the password is, and you don't need to give it out to your 'registered users'. If they're registered, they'll connect. If they're not registered, and don't have the password, they can't connect.

That way you can give out the password to guests, just dont register them, change the password and they will have to enter the new password to get in again but registered members wont.
If you wish to register a new member, give him the password and hen register him when he gets in.
Sorry for not replying earlier, my machine has spent most of last week in parts on a table. Upgrades... :)
Anyway, the reason for the registered only users is this.
1) Only those who have a valid account with their *own* password can log into the server
2) No password sharing, thus no-one can waste my bandwidth giving out access to people I don't know. Yes, they could share an account, but I have a feeling it wouldn't work (or if it does, then that should be fixed)
3) Forces people to properly identify themselves for logging purposes.
It's all about the audit trail...
(It's my machine, I want to know who's using it...)
Hey, it's just a suggestion! :)

Hey, it's just a suggestion!
Things already work how you want.
1) Set some weirdy password on the server. You don't have to give it out to anyone.
2) Register users with their individual username/password.
Registered users don't need to supply the password for #1 to connect... they just use their own username/password.
