View Full Version : "My mates tell me I make echoes"
Hi, I know this is "covered" in the FAQ but I've disabled every single possible option in the sound menu and the echoes have not been solved.
My specs:
Gentoo Linux (kernel 2.6.5)
Alsa (however TS uses OSS using the OSS compatibility of ALSA)
Creative MP3+ (emu10k1)
and a crappy mic
Anybody got any ideas?
Cheers

Make sure your only recorded source is your mic, and that your actual mic volume (output) is muted.
Are you using speakers of headphones? If you're using speakers, your mic might be recording what is being played through your speakers. So - when you're friends speak, their voices come out the speakers, your mic records what they say, and teamspeak sends it back to them :D
2 solutions:
a) get a headset - they're nice - i put one around my neck which sticks the mic in front of my mouth, and use my nice head phones on my ears coz they're much higher quality.
b) turn your volume down, and turn your mic pick up down - fiddle - you might find a balance.
My friend has the same problem, because he hasn't got a headset. But he's definatly getting one (NZ$10), even if i have to buy it for him, coz i'm sick of hearing myself :D
If none of this helps - another thing - is it their voice echoing, or yours?
