Installing TS-client under Fedora

Downloaded the Linux client and unpacked it

Now I have a setup.sh and a teamspeak.sh in the directory, and whatever I do with these files the client will NOT start. No errors no nothing.


Also tried it from the shell, no joy

What am I overlooking

I have the same problem.
I have installed both client & server on Fedora Core 1.
I see the pids with ps -A, but no GUI is running.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I to have just installed Fedora.
I have it up and running and have downloaded the TeamSpeak file.
I have managed to install it and it IS RUNNING a server.
I am able to log in through another computer and have others enter it to.
We must use the IP as the name is set to default still.

The question I have is " where is the icon in the tray??"
I have no icon and no way to access the Superadmin sight to edit the server info.
And as I know NOTHING about Linux I find that I can not shut down the server at all.
I must reboot in-order to shut it down.
I have read the READ me and help files but the commands and scripts that they are talking about have NO MEANING to a dummy like me.
They also say to use the web browser to enter into the IP and port to get to the Superadmin sight.
That will not work either , either that or I am not doing it right.

Any one that is willing to help a complete NEW-BE with the Linux setup?

I have it running under Windows but am setting up a Linux server.

I have the server runing and get no client to run.
Can accsess the server from another compouter but not from linux.

yeah i am noob to linux, so i use fedora core 2

and i use gnome, which is it default, (i did install Kde, but it dont run very well with fedora core)

its the best noob linux out there (its not just for noobs btw)

but for f00ks sake, i cant run ts

i install it into my home directory, like i do everything

the installer runs fine, so I was like, oh great I guess i dont have the problem everyone else is having, nope, I click on the launcher, the hard drive cranks, and then boom, "ERROR, Privileged instruction"

I tried using the early versions of rc2 with no success, i tried running in KDE, and it just quits out without even giving me an error

for now i will use my main box, my linux box is secondary next to my gaming box (used to be windows where i would run ts2 from it, but windows became so freaking gey, byw bye)

Please someone help me and those who also have this problem!

edit: oh yeah it would help to give the error the terminal gives me

I have TS running under Fedora core 2, everything is the same other than some alsa issues I am having, as far as installing it and running it, no real trick there other than the same as always you have to have permisssion to do either one and TS does not seem to work if you are trying to start it from outside of it's own directory, unless you use sh to call it, example:

Either:

cd /usr/local/TeamSpeak*/
./TeamSpeak

or from another directory:

sh /usr/local/TeamSpeak*/TeamSpeak

Also make sure it's not running:

killall -9 TeamSpeak.bin

Hmmmm Glad you have it working but the question is how. been working on this for 2 weeks did all that and set permissions and still get error privileged instruction. Please someone help us!!!!!

Hi all,

i got this working by altering the TeamSpeak file.

i tried and tested installations with gui and shellbased like suggested in the readme without success.

so, in the TeamSpeak file the last line should be something like :
%installdir%/TeamSpeak.bin $*

change this to whatever directory you unpacked teamspeak in. eg

/teamspeak/TeamSpeak.bin $*

save and ./TeamSpeak

that did the trick for me. Now to get the sound working ;)

Those errors are very odd! The easiest way to install TS would be to just install to your /home directory. If you want to do a system wide install, then it can be tricy, but for a local install for only one user, it should be fairly easy!! BTW I run it under FC2, with NO issues whatsoever.

killall -9 TeamSpeak.bin
That's not totally true, since there will be a lock file in /tmp which will prevent you from running it if the file exists ;) (even if the process is not running).
