Hello,

I posted this in the "general" thread and I only post this here as well because it does contain a couple of suggestions.

I am trying to set up a "public" team speak for people to use and I have a few questions about it. I will ask the questions in a format that the people here can pick and choose which questions to answer by referencing the number assigned to it.

Thank you in advance for you help.

1. a. Is there a way to force "push to talk"? I ask because, on a public server, you can imagine how chaotic it could get with all the breathing, and yelling in the back ground, and mics coming up when someone sets the headset down to get a drink, etc etc.
b. If there isn't, will this feature be implemented in a further release?

2. Is it possible to mute a channel? I'd like to have a "connection point" where people that aren't registered can at least connect to the server, but I don't want unregistered hanging out talking there. In this same vain, Is it possible to just mute unregistered users? Actually, after thinking about it, this wouldn't actually serve the purpose because registered users could still hang out there and talk. But being able to mute an unregistered user (or level 1 user) is still a good idea.

3. I have to preface this question a little. Let me say that the idea of having different levels of users is simply awesome. This allows the administrator (me :) ) to give certain people more control while limiting the control of others. This little feature makes the hole "public" server thing possible.
a. First question of question 3: How do you make a user "voiced", "Operator", or "Channel Admin"? I figured out how to register them (obviously) and I can make someone a channel admin (for that particular channel) or a Server Admin, but I can't seem to figure out how to make some a "channel admin" for all channels or a voiced or operator.
b. Would it possible to just have level users. i.e. instead of u,r,o,ca,sa, have tiers like level 1 user, lever 2 user, level 3 user, level 4 user and level 5 user, and have ALL the options checkable in each level so that the administrator could completely customize each level of user? As it is, some options aren't available to certain levels of users, whether I wanted to turn them on or not. As an example, I'd like to give a couple of guys the option of moving people around, but I don't want to make the Server administrators.

Forgive me if these questions have been answered before and again, thank you for your time

Your attitude is admirable, but trying to give people something will not go well on the long run. It will bite you in the behind, mark my words...

Anyways, here's for the answers:

1a) unfortunately not
1b) maybe :)

2) Yes and no. There is no such thing by default, but you can build yourself one.
First, make sure unregistered users can't create channels and can't join registered channels. Then make the default channel moderated.
Now unregistered people can't talk in the default channel unless an admin gives them voice privileges or they register and go into another channel.

3a) Voice and Operator privileges can only be attained in moderated channels. Channel Admin can be attained in any channel.
Note that Voice, Operator and Channel Admin are channel privileges, that means if you want a user to be Channel Admin in all channels you have to drag him into each and every channel and give him Channel Admin privileges there.
3b) Unfortunately this is not possible right now, however TS3 is said to come with a completely new privilege system.

Thank you, The information you provided was exactly the information I was looking for :)

two more suggestions

1. Allow one more level of subchannels, so that you can have a channel, a sub channel, then a sub channel below it. Would be much appreciated.

2. Allow for mapping push to talk, whisper, etc, to an input device (like a joystick, nostromo, mouse etc.) with out mapping the device to the keyboard first. Ventrilo has implemented this and it is wonderful, because there just doesn't seem to be enough keystrokes on the keyboard - lol

Thank you again
