We are using TS alot, in our clan, and to "Push to talk" option isn't used at all, but when we are playing war it would be SO nice to talk of your voice when you have to for example scream out NOOOOOOOOOO when you die, cause nobody want's to hear that.
And I could think of lots of other purposes for the "Push to NOT talk" option.
So PLEASE implement this function. I know it's easy to make, cause you've allready got all the functions for it in the "push to talk" option.
So I say again, please implement it in TS-3

umm, they've got that - it's called mute - bind a key to it in the key bindings.

What he means is not the already existing toggle for muting, but a key which mutes input as long as you press it.

This is useful if you use Teamspeak with voice activation, and in-game voice with push-to-talk.

You could bind that mute key to the same button as the in-game talk key.
That way you could talk in-game with teamspeak disabled.

Conclusion is, i would like to suggest that feature, too ;)

If you bind a key to mute, then the mute won't disappear when you lift you finger from the key again.
I was hoping for a button where it onlymuted while the key was pressed down.

Now the big question is, if some of the developers will let me know, if they think it should be in the new version of TS.

I surdently hope so

Now that I think of it, that functionality where things only happens while the key is pressed down could be usefull to the keys as well.
The big problem with the, "press once for enable, and second press is diasble and vice versa", is that when you are in a game, you cannot see if it's enabled or disabled.
But if you could add the opprtunity to choose between "Enable when pressed down" and "enabled on push and let go" then that would fix the problem, and be useful for a lot of other people, I presume.

yeah of course this would be a nice thing to do for many binds - we will see if it fits in nicely, a "cough button" (as it has been called on this forum) is definetly something that would be nice to have.

I stumbled over this forum again after being away a long time and this "Push to NOT Talk" made me think for a while.

Now I haven't tried the following solution, but testing it couldn't hurt.

Bind a key to "whisper" to a name that doesnt exist on the server. By any luck it should stop transmitting to everyone (since thats what whisper does) and send your words into the data-nirvana. Since whisper works the same as "push to talk" you should be able to talk to everyone else as soon as you release the button.

The only question is: What happens when you whisper to a username that isn't on the server?

Please let me know if it has worked ;)

Create a key bind to whisper to CoughButton and as long as you have no one named CoughButton on your TeamSpeak server, TeamSpeak will not activate the microphone because that user is not present (at least this worked on my client and clan server).

This did not work on my client and clan server.
Server: 2.0.20.1
Client: 2.0.32.60

We're all using voice activation, I assume?

The best solution I've managed to find is creating a channel called "null" and whisper to that for the cough-button. But that's server specific ofcourse.

I get this same behaviour for whispering to non-existing channels or whispering to channel commanders when I'm the only one.

In general, it seems like a bad idea that if a whisper "fails" since there is nothing to whisper to it just transmits normally. Atleast 50% of the time you whisper because the other people in your channel really don't need to hear what you're saying. (and often get insulting if they do :))
