am i deaf?

i recently started a teamspeak server for me and my mate to practice on. However, despite all of his settings seeming to be ok, i just cannot hear him. it can't be his mic 'cause he can hear himself in local test mode. this is causing much frustration and any help would be greatly appreciated!! (please dont assume that i know what i'm doing, it could be the simplist thing, i just don't think it is!)

Interesting problem. Is it just this guy or don't you hear others either? Can he hear you?
