I installed TS2 last Friday, had some problems with my port and my router, but got it working on Saturday. I have been using it with out problems since late Tuesday night when I disconnect from the server with my TS2 client by accident. (I have been logged in ever since I started it) Then I tried to log back in and it wouldn't work. I then tried to log in locally and that works, but not by my external ip. I restarted my computer and check my router to make sure my port was still being flowered and it appears so. So now I can't login to my server externally, just locally. So is there something that I'm doing wrong? Or is there something else? Any thoughts would be great.

Ps. I also have logged in and out many times and restarted my computer 2 times before. So Im confused as to why it’s doing this now.

from inside your LAN you should ONLY use the LAN IP. Using the WAN is very well known for causing problems (due to the access device (router/modem/...)).

Only WAN players shall use the WAN IP.

Yea, but now nobody outside the lan can join. I have no idea what's wrong.

then it will be a problem in the port forwarding (e.g. local IP changed and port forwarding points to wrong IP,...) ?

could also be that your ISP has changed your IP and your mates are trying to log into the wrong address now

Well my ip is still the same. I also deleated the rules in my router for TS and re made them and still nothing. Then I rest my router and modem and still nothing. 1 thing I niticed is that after I did that is that my ip didn't change. Now my ip is dynamic not static so shouldn't my ip change?

I also deleated all of the other rules in my router (after backing them up) and now my TS woun't display my external ip. It only displays my local ip address. I then restsord the backup and still won't say my external ip. But it did befor I did this.

This is really starting to anoy me.

Ok so it's my router. I bypassed my router, my ip changed, and I could connect to my TS server. Then I plugged my router back in and hooked it up and I got my old ip for my WAN. Does anyone know why this would happen? Shouldn’t your router change the ip? It is configured for a dynamic ip address. And I still can’t get anyone to connect to my TS server. Stupid D-Link. Any thought would be appreciated.

Your ISP is assigning IP addresses using DHCP. DHCP assigned IP addresses are "leased" to you for a period of time. If the lease hasn't expired, the DHCP server will assign the same IP address the device had previously, based upon the devices Media Access Control (also known as MAC) address, which is typically a hard-coded number traceable to your device.

It is likely your router rules that are causing the problem, not the router itself. If you put the router back in with the minimum port forwarding rules (UDP port 8767) does it work? Can you ping your IP address from the outside?

That did it. It was one of the other rules in my router that made it not work. Thank you guys for all your help.
