I've been very impressed with TS 2.0 versus the older 1.5. The voice quality is impressive to say the least and there are a lot of very nifty features that I've been looking forward to for quite some time.
I'm part of a Ghost Recon unit that does a lot of online competitive play. We want to be able to effectively communicate with each other using differing levels of command, and TS 2.0 allows us to do this whereas 1.5 did not. However, the problem with 2.0 is that it lacks some whisper mode features that we would DESPERATELY like to see added.
- First of all, we would like a "whisper to parent channel." This would be like the current "whisper to parent channel commander", but wouldn't require the people on the other end to be channel commanders. We'd also like the same thing for going the other way around (parent channel to sub channel). Currently you can also only talk from parent to sub when the reciever is a channel commander. At the current point in time, we have to make everyone a channel commander just to use TS2 the way we need to.
- whisper to sub channel # - this means if you have two identical main channels with two identical sets of sub-channels (let's say two teams, one blue, one red) and you want a key bind set up to just whisper to the first sub channel, you don't have to re-do all your bindings if you swap colors or play a game the next day and get assigned to the other team. This is really annoying.
If you don't follow what I mean, let's say there are only two channels: Red and Blue. Then let's say you have 3 sub-channels for each; squad 1, squad 2 and squad 3. Your commander is in the main channel and his men are under him in the sub channels. But what if he wants to only talk to squad 1? Sure, he can set up a bind for that. But what happens when he gets swapped to Blue Team the next round and is no longer on Red? He has to re-do his binds list or import/export and that gets annoying. People forget to do that sometimes and then cannot alt-tab out... in short, it causes problems.
mute sub channel # - same as above but it would turn on and off comms for certain sub channels (like a toggle switch).
And one major bug I've found when hosting on WinXP is that sometimes people go to 'static' for no apparent reason. I'm sure that's been brought up many times before, but it's one more reason we have not switched to TS2 yet.
Keep up the great work, guys. This is a very kickass product, and I continue to be impressed with your work and efforts!
