i need help please on getting a server started.. please read

ok i try letting people log in by using my ip but it tells them its not up and stuff please tlel me what i need to do... ive tried forwrding and stuff threw my router but can u please give me all the steps

no sorry, there are so (TOO) many threads about "port forwarding". I wan't write a step by step guide again and again. Do a search first and then come back if you're lost at a certain point.
But remember, this is NOT a router forum, so reouter specific question are not welcome here.
