Cable Modem/Router... Can they be the problem?

Hello, I am new to teamspeak but have yet to get it to work on my system.

AMD 2800+
Soyo Dragon 600 Plus
(integrated sound)

Labtec Microphone.

I can't seem to hear or speak to anyone... I have confirmed with a friend who runs TS on his comp that I do show up on the channel... I just can't communicate.

I have read the FAQ and many posts but can't seem to get it to work.

(I even tried a Sound Blaster 4.1 card with no luck... so I returned it.)

Any help or suggestions would be welcome here or email me.

I forgot to mention that last night I unistalled and reinstalled TS and the TEST playback worked fine... so my mic is obviously recognized by the program so I am concerned that my problem is elsewhere.
