I have a problem with the sound output volume on TS. If I set the volume above "normal" everyone on TS starts to sound booming and overmodulated like their talking on cheap walkie talkies and its blasting in my ear. If I keep TS at "normal" and turn my regular volume controls up the quality is much better and it doesnt seem to yell in my ear even if I turn it all the way up.

Anyway my quick fix for this was to set the sound output volume to normal, then turn my in game volume down. This way I can hear my teammates above the in game sound and all comes through clear.

But yes I was wondering if this is a normal function for my soundcard and computer? If it isn't then how could I fix it so that increasing the output volume above normal wont make people sound awful?

Also, If I set my output volume on TS below "normal" and adjust the other volumes will that make people sound even clearer?

TS v 2.2.0.32.60
Windows XP with all the latest packs
SoundBlaster PCI 512 with the only driver it has
Any games, its a TS issue
DirectX 9.0b or whatever the latest one is
No error messages.
Error appears whenever I turn sound output past normal?
Problem resolved by turning down in game volume, but question lingers

One possibility is to check your actual Windows volume settings for your speakers. This has happened to many clan mates. Seems you need to be aware of at least 3 sound controllers..

1. In TS
2. In game
3. In Windows

Hope this was helpful.

yeah for my windows speaker/master volume control I have it set low. I just use the volume on my speakers (not on windows) and it goes loud enough.

It's just a guess but i'd say that everything above "normal" in teamspeak is a very basic digital amplification (done by TS directly). It's only to be expected that this will result worse quality, especially since teamspeak is trying to keep the cpu resources low.

I wouldn't expect any better quality when setting the volume below normal though. "Normal" is just what actually gets transmitted, nothing more nothing less. Everything appart from "normal" is digitaly manipulated and I would assume that your soundcare (no matter what kind you got) has much more sophisticated ways of amplifying sound signals.

Hence the conclusion would be that you are doing exactly the right thing (at least I think that you do since I am doing exactly the same)
Game-Sound low and Teamspeak normal and then adjust your speakers/headphones to whatever seems to work best.
