Mic issues

OK so I am running TeamSpeak 2 on WIndows 2000 with a Vinyl AC'97 Audio Controller. Now when I goto chat on a server my sound gets distorted and messed up. It sounds as though what I am saying through the mic has a lot of bass and it sounds really slow. Now I have tried everything except getting a new sound card. My sound card is intagrated with my motherboard. I have upgraded the drivers, I have done windows updates, downloaded drivers from Via's website (manufacturer of the sound card) and none of it seems to work. SO I am open to any suggestions.

useing wave or direct sound in t-s settings ? direct is better for most peps

I am using Direct but I have also tried it with wave and I have the saem issue.

you should give an external soundcard a try. Onboard chips are well known for beeing a pain. Even in the last MB tests I've seen, some onboard solutions still get horrible results concerning recording quality (and sometimes even playback quality).
They are as well very vulnerable to interferences.

My advise would have been to test other drivers. but as you've allready done this...
