After you start the client you will see a blank purple window, no? It will say "Welcome to TeamSpeak 2" in red at the bottom. Well, at the top go to the Connection menu. From there you have two options for method of connecting. You can choose Quick Connect (which is easy if you know the server IP) and is probably best for new users. So select Quick Connect and you see 4 boxes to fill in. Server Address, Nickname, Login Name (optional) and Password. The server address is where you put in the IP of the server you want to connect to. The Nickname is the name that will appear other than Guest. The login name and Password are for if you registered with the server - since you have not registered with a server yet, leave those two blank. Then press Connect and you should connect.

Note: When connecting you do not need the UDP port at the end as long as the server is running on port 8767 (or whatever they deemed as the default port). However, it will never hurt to add the port on, so if you know what server you want to connect to and know the port, just tage ":xxxx" at the end where the X's represent the port number the server runs on.

If the server you are trying to connect to has a password, then go to Connection menu again and this time go to "Connect" rather than Quick Connect. Now you have two tabs at the top of this new window, "Local address book" and "Web server list." You want Local Address book. From there, right click on the word "Servers" which is in the left which window and select "Add Server." You can type in ANY NAME THAT YOU WANT for the name of the server (just make it recognizable so you know who's server it is). It does NOT have to be the actual name of the server, it is your own little bookmark. Then on the right there will be a bunch of fields to fill it. The "Lable" is just the name you just specified. Server address and Nickname are the same as for Quick Connect (so just read the above). Un-check the box that says "allows server to assign nickname" because it is just dumb. Click the bubble that says "Anonymous" since you are not registered with the server yet, and in place of the Login Name and User Password field will be a Server Password field - if the server you are trying to connect to requires a password, enter it there. The three fields at the bottom are optional, I don't use them so you shouldn't either. Now press connect at the bottom right of the page and you will connect to the server.

If you want to register that is simple, just go to the "Self" menu after you are connected to the server and choose "Register With Server" and select a Login Name and Password. Then next time you log in you can select the "Registered" bubble and enter that username and password you specified.

Hope that helped,
Jdawgg
