Some assistance on Seting up a Server

Can anyone tell what I need to do to set up a server on a private server. Any info would be helpful

more info please ? a server in your house ? paid for server on the net somewere ? if it is in your house you need to install the server program and set up the server name and welcome message , how many players you want to allow , codec: you want to use , permissions you want others to have ...thru the server's icon / administration superadmin login , and some one else can tell you how to set up a shell account on a "paid server box" i dont know how to do that but there are posts you can scearch for in the web site !
