I am trying to set up my TS server. I am a total NEWB with Linux. But so far I'm doing ok. I have the server up and can start it, but my friends can't connect. I gave them the IP that the modem gives us(65.blah.blah.balh). They can connect but their connections timeout almost immediately. I tried to bind the IP to the server.ini file but then the server wouldnt start and this error pops up:

starting the teamspeak2 server
Error, Either an old instance of teamspeak is still running, or
an other application is using the tcpquery port!
Error, Server was not started!

The router is a D-Link DI-624.

have you forwarded the TS server port to your TS server LAN IP in your router ?
Timeout: set the client into debug mode and give it a try

DMZ is a possibility as well but it's generally safer to make only a port forwarding for the required TS server port. Port forwarding is described in your router manual.
debug mode is described in the TS manual
