Hi, all.

After reading the manual and the FAQs, I finally got TS Server to work. However, my US Robotics Wireless AP/Router doesn't use the words "Port Forwarding" anywhere, so I'd like to make sure that what I did isn't something else entirely that would put my system/network at risk. I set up something called a Virtual Server:

From the help file:

This page enables you to create a virtual server via the router. If the router is set as a virtual server, remote users requesting Web or FTP services through the WAN are directed to local servers in the LAN. The router redirects the request via the protocol and port numbers to the correct LAN server.

The Virtual Sever profiles are listed in the table at the bottom of the page.

Just want to make sure I'm not leaving an open door to malicious sorts. :)

Thanks,
:-J

EDIT: Removed image link--for some reason http://www.angeltowns2.com/members/tangents/VS.jpg was taking me to the angeltowns site, not the image. Odd.

Well, no replies here, but I found my answer in a new thread (http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=16032) this morning:
How to setup up: thats VERY router specific and therefore you have to consult and read your router manual by yourself. Look for port forwarding or sometimes called virtual server. Thanks, guldi. :)

np, you're addressing a good point. It's not only setup different on some routers, it's called different too. that's making it not easy for noobs, sry, beginners.
In my router setting, port forwarding is called SUA settings (Zyxel router).

I have a modem, not a router. Well, it acts as both. It's very odd.

if the modem has more the 1 port on the back for pc's to plug in to it has router propertys in it and will need port fowarding applyed in some form as per it's owners manual ...

I didn't get an owner's manual because my ISP just came and set it up for me.

look up the model # in your internet explorer search and you may find a online owners manual !
