View Full Version : What are the ports to use for TS on a d-link
What ports should i open or forward for ppl to join my ts server? The resent ports open is 8767. Please Help.
the ports are mentioned in the FAQ !
only the voice port is required to be forwarded => 8767 UDP
I went to all the port links but get the same anwer.
- your TS server is running on 8767 ?
- did you forwarded or opened the port (thats not the same) ?
- you need to forward it to your LAN IP where the TS server runs
- and you need to open the port if your router has a build in firewall
- make sure the forwarded / opened protocoll is UDP (not TCP). If your router does not allow to select this, then it wil most surely forward both of them
- can you connect to your server localy, by using the LAN IP ?
fourms needs a compleat setup for noobs guide on port fowarding in the FAQ it's only got 3 posts in it as of now this subject needs to be added in FAQ
thinking since a long time to write such a thread, BUT: this would be nearly endless:
1) People with no network knowledge will probably nerver be able to run a server, so explain the whole IP networking as well... In one thread... for a noob... forget it
2) Houndrets of diff. routers are available. It's impossible to cover them all. So the outcome of this thread would any way be: "open your router manual and check how the port forwardign is set up".
3) home routers are usually not that well tested so there are lots of bug's, incompatibiliteis,...
4) not to forget that network setups offer an endless stream of possible config errors (wrong IP, port, protocoll,....)
If someone has a good idea or houndrets / thousand hours of spare time.... you're welcome !

well we dont need to hit every router ever made lol but hit the basics of set up for the most comman questions like refer to your router manual or onling manual the the manufacturs web site on info on loging in to your router and tab names in routers for port fowarding and that port 8767 is the one you need ! should be ok for a FAQ post , as far as i see it
