This has only begun recently and so finding the solution hasn't been easy, so here's the problem:
I use TS for Flight Sim 2004 exclusively and recently I have had a problem with everyone hearing the engine noise over my voice. First of all, I don't use my speakers, as a matter of fact they're not even plugged in so the sound isn't bleeding off the speakers. I use a headset with boom mic, so somehow, the sounds are mixing, but how? There is a group of us that fly on a regualr basis and we all use a server that we use the "quick connect" setup for.

Here are the settings I'm using:
SOUND SETTINGS:
Output Vol at "normal"
Push to talk
Test codec: CELP 5.1 Kbit

OPTIONS:
Direct Sound
Input & output devices - SoundMAX Digital Audio
Bandwidth on both input and output is "unlimited"

There it is in a nutshell. Any idea why anyone would be able to hear engine sounds coming through when I use a headset with boom mic and no speakers hooked up?

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

I don't have anything in my sound setup checked actually:
Vol. Control - Wave - SW Synth - Stereo Wide - CD Player - Mic - Aux - Line In

all unchecked.

check the mic and test it

:( Sorry for the delay, but that didn't work. If I mute the mic in Volume Control, that's exactly what I get. . .no mic in TS.

Something has changed somehow, because this hasn't always been a problem. I have flown countless hours in the past with no problem like this ever arising. Now I have to mute the sound, speak, then unmute so I can hear the sim sounds, and so on.

 One other thing I failed to add to that post, I opened up Roger Wilco this morning while in FS2004 Multiplayer, had a friend of mine open his as well, we connected and the problem was not present in RW. He heard no engine noise and my transmission was crystal clear, so the problem seems to be within TS.

try swiching around your setting tab/ options, input/outputs and direct/wave sounds till you get a working combo .. and rw must be set up right for ya in its setup , all you need to do is play around with it some
