I can hear myself

I have an Audigy 2 soundcard. When I mute the mic in volume control TeamSpeak doesn't appear to be transmitting anything (though I preume it's probably that the mic is dead to my voice), but if I unmute the mic (again, in volume control not TS) I can hear my voice through my headphones.

How can I get around this?

only mute the mic in playback. In the recording settings the mico must be enabled (should be the only device enabled)
