Sorry for asking a dunce question but I am unclear in regards to the permission. I am not understanding how to grant a particular user Operator status as an example. I see that you can modify the actual rights per rank (ie anonymous / registered / voice / operator / etc) but I am not clear how to give a user a certain rank. I click on User Administration but the only thing that I can do is to change the password. Any suggestions / tips would be greatly appreciated.

Tks!

that's done via ts-client on your server... you can just right-click the user...
pleas read the client and server manuals before asking questions... (forum rules)

I did read that but I am confused as that indicates that a serveradmin has to be online to grant a particular user those rights. I read the web based documentation and there is not much information in terms of user maintentance. Again I apologize for the confusion - I did read the documentation but not clear. And it seems problematic to have to be online at the same time with the user to enable those rights. Wouldnt it be better to be able to modify a user rights in the software online as you would configure the server settings? Every software that I have seen you configure the user rights offline and when the login they are assigned the rights.

Please let me know if I am missing anything. I find this to be a great software but the user configuration seems a bit archaic. I could be missing something in the documentation and I will try to reread. Also, once the user rights are assigned offline - are they permanent?

Tks! :)

I understand what you are saying! I am having the same problem. I have searched problem and read posts too. Sometimes it's nice for people to help you rather than point out rules. So here you go....

I found this in another post:
Bottom line: If you want to have Operators and people with Voice privileges you need to make the channel moderated.

I know that this is an old discussion, but am I right in saying that OPERATOR or VOICE privileges etc. can only be granted by a human administrator who has to grant the privilege when the person to be made an operator is actually on line?

i.e. both people have to be online???

Once that is done, is it also true that the particular user concerned keeps that privilege whenever he/she enters that particular channel?

Thanks for your assistance.

Best wishes

You're assumption is correct! Both members need to be online...

Login to your TS
Create moderated channel
Give privilege (OPERATOR, AUTO-VOICE, ETC) to online user while in that channel
Privileges are set for that user in that channel only

Hope this helps....
