Salute !!!
My TS client has been working perfectly until I updated the ATI Drivers for my Radeon 9800Pro Vidieo card. (4.9).
Now, whenever I click on the start for TS I get sent to the Blue Screen with the Stop Message and dump of physical memory etc...

I came here and found the new d/l for the client (rc2_2032.exe) and when I execute it the program loads and I can start TS at the finish screen. If I shut it down I cannot start it from the shortcut or from the executable in the TS directory.

It will be a royal pain-in-the-tail assembly to have to "reload" TS every time I wish to use it.

Any suggestions, besides rolling back the vidieo drivers ??

Thanks !!

Thanks for the reply, M&M's:
I uninstalled the new CATALYST driver and reinstalled the previous version.
Huzzah !!! TS launches and works fine !!
IL2/FB looks just ok and not as good as with the new drivers.

Uninstalled the CATALYST driver/reinstalled the new ones.
Huzzah !!! IL2/FB looks great !!!
TS crashes on launch from desktop icon and/or .exe in the directory.....

Must be a bug somewhere...
Thanks,

can you post the exact CAT driver version you are using so I can test this at home as well. Be aware, that TS2 will not get fixed as the DEV's only work on TS3.

Thank you for your reply, Guldi !!

The driver in question is the newest CATALYST 4.9 drivers from ATI. I obtained them from their website and installed according to their instructions.

As I mentioned above, one test I ran was to rollback the driver to the previous version which was 4.8. When I did that TS began to work normally. However, I really desire to use the newest driver (4.9) as it vastly improves the game (IL2/Forgotten Battles).

If you need the particular driver number from my computer's device manager I can obtain it, but it will be a number of hours as I am at work now...

Thanks !!!

This is the exact information from the Drivers Tab on Device Manager:

Driver Version 6.14.10.6476

Dated 8-25-2004

This was downloaded from ATI a few days ago and is the newest ones that have just been released.

My computer is a Dell Dimension 8300 with 1 gig of RAM and the Radeon 9800 Pro video card.

downloaded the one from 09/09/04 (http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-051-040825a-017633c.exe) and have no problem under win2k with a Radeon 9700. DirectX 9.0c

I'm pleased to report that TS is working again !!!

I completely uninstalled TS, everything including the folders.

Went to Microsoft Update and installed Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack 1.

Reinstalled TS and now it is fine !!!

Thanks for your help !!!!
