if you got xp pro and sp2 installed your fire got turned on with the install , so your going to have to find it and allow ts or shut the crappy fire wall off , its junk so dont think your going to lose anything with it off :p

thanks. ive searched everywhere and i cant figure out how to turn off the firewall and i dont i have SP2 because when i try to run the program, wscui.cpl in the run window, it says the computer cant find it. ive gone to microsoft.com and checked there but it only gives me info about SP2. so if oyu have XP Pro and DONT have Service Pack 2 some help would be wonderful.

Regardless if you have sp2 or sp1 installed on ur pc , XP firewall maybe still enabled , Follow these directions:

1.Go to Start

2.Go to Controll Panel

3.A blue Box called Controll panel will have a link under it on the left hand side of the controll panel. It will say Switch to Classic View or switch to Catagory View.
Click it and switch to classic view , if you are already in classic view then click on Network Connections.

4.Look for your LAN or Local Area Network Connection Icon , click on it once or look for a lock symbol on the Icon , if you see the lock or if it says Firewalled , then you have the XP firewall turned on.

If its turned on Right click the Icon , select Properties , then goto Advanced , Uncheck the box for the firewall in SP1 , or for SP2 Click the button that says Protect
My Computer(not at home so not 100% sure if this is what it says).

Now , just to set one thing straight , if you have an additional firewall setup (software)
sometimes just turning off the firewall does not work , and also some software firewalls (even thought they have the settings for port forwarding or allowing certain ports ) may still block you from being able to access that port nessary. If this is the case then you will have to lower your securty levels down in order to get a connection.

Also you say the server will not run? What does your log file say for the server when it tries to start?

You really need to give more details on your server first before actually lowering your security properties on MCafee.

As you stated in your first post:
I've set up a server and it won't run.

What exactly is the log file saying ? Get that info first , but make sure to remove any important info like SSA name and pass and SA name and pass.

Try this , considering you are behind a NAT firewall Router , Go to Macfee security ,
Select Security ( I think) and select disable , actually for a test go thru and disable everything with in Macfee, except for the anti-virus.

Then try relaunching the Server again......

ShadowFox77
12-09-2004, 15:17
nope, i only have anti virus installed, i tried on, off, nothing worked, there is obviously some firewall im not aware of

12-09-2004, 15:33
Did you go thru the steps I provided above to make sure you do not have the XP firewall turned on?

ShadowFox77
12-09-2004, 15:35
i am 300% sure i dont have the firewall on, im installing XP Service Pack 2 now so ill post when its done

Try this step now that you have your router port forwarded to 8767

- You have to start your Team Speak 2.0 server by double clicking/opening the actual application (Short Cuts will not work)
- If you still cant connect, you will have to uninstall TeamSpeak 2.0,
- Manually Delete your TeamSpeak2 folder and all it contents.
- Reinstall Team Speak 2.0 and follow the server setup steps

that didnt work. how can i find out if there are Software Firewalls on my computer.

Madhouse
12-09-2004, 17:09
Read off the icons you have by your time clock for like Nortons Securty or Macfee Securty Center , then make sure the firewall is disabled if not then you will have to do so yourself or go to the software site to their FAQ section to find otu more info,.

McAffe doesnt have a firewall. when you get back from work (would be nice to know when so i can AIM you) we can get on that and we can use Net Meeting and you can control my computer. You are alot more patient than Jdawgg. I really appreciate you helping me.

13-09-2004, 03:18
you got 2 ip's in the server icon 1 is your lan ip used by you in your lan , most likely starts with 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x the other ip is your "real world ip" and is the one you hand out to peps you want to join .
