2 clients behind router... one can connect, other cant !? why?!

hi there...
together with a friend we're having 2 clients on different pcs behind a router...
the thing is, one can connect to a server, the other dont...
i did not forward any ports nor am i using port triggering on ts2 ports...
we both have same network settings etc.
the only difference is that the one that can connect is using SP2 on winXP !?

can that be the problem!?

Is the server on your lan or is it outside?

sorry forgot to mention..
server is outside lan in internet...
server has a port (24470) but as i said...no port forwarding anytime...

the only difference is that the one that can connect is using SP2 on winXP !?
Can he connect to any other server ? If no, he'll have a network problem (firewall,...). Don't know too much about SP2, but do a search. I'm pretty sure you'll find some posts.

ok some new information...

HE can always connect to any server he wants...
sometimes even my connection works...but most of the time i just cant find the server although its the same as the one he connects to

it bothers me that sometimes i CAN connect with no problems at all and we can both be on the same server without any problems...
i think there is a problem with another app running on my pc that stops ts2 from working but i couldnt figure out yet which one it is...

did i mention i'm not using a firewall or anything similar!?

here i am...only some minutes after my last post..
i did not change ANYTHING and it works now
i just sat here and watched tv
...i have no clue ;/

and again...left the server with no reason ;(
he's still on it btw
