This update fixes 4 things.

1: A bug where in a public server with more that 9 people in 1 channel, you could not see them all in the client.
2: The exception when closing a conenction in win98se
3: Finally fixed the bug that prevented channel admins to become channel commanders
4: Fixed "player joined channel" message when people enter the erver

*update* I forgot to mention that if you start teamspeak with -d (TeamSpeak.exe -d) now, debug logging will be enabled.

Windows is here:
http://www.teamspeak.org/files/TeamSpeak_patch23.zip

linux is here:
http://www.teamspeak.org/files/TeamSpeak_linux_patch23.tar.bz2

Just replace the old teamspeak binaries with the new one.

I it still hangs when I try to change the sound device (Options:Sound Driver:other) but it does do so in a slightly different place. It now redraws the obscured bits of the main window after closing the Settings dialog, and then freezes. :)

Would it be possible to have it so when people join/quit the server it does not play sound file "New Player" & "Player Quit"?

I use TS2 on a large server with many rooms and while I am in a game or chatting with some friends I do not like to hear other people in other rooms joining/quitting. I know there is a way to disable sounds all together for that sort of thing, but I would still like to hear when people join/quit the channel I am in.

Also a simple "clear" option when you right click the message box would be great also for people that are on all day long, every now and then its nice to have it clear so it is easy to read.

Just some idea's for the next patch...

Keep up the good work!

Nice work with the new patch. It finally fixed the problem I was having with UT minimizing whenever someone joined or left the server.

From the drop down menus: Settings -> Options.
Click on the 'Sound Notifications' tab.
Locate the 'events' you want to mute
(In this case, you want a few under the "Joining and leaving channels" <-- BTW Niels, extra space in this line.)
You don't have to mute ALL sounds. Just select, for example, "Player Joined", and click the "Clear" button.

When I run the patch, I get this error-message:

10-10-02 22:40:12,WARNING,All,TMainForm.FormCreate,Exceptio n EProtocol: Error loading Hawlvoice library (hvdi.dll) Maybe not installed?

Any workaround ?

rivmin, try hitting your harddrive with a hammer.

Floorpie, what phar0e wants is to only hear the "new player" message when someone joins his chan and not the server. If you do what you say, then al warnings will be removed and you can't tell when someone joins your chan.

I agree with phar0e. Give us the option to hear the difference when someone joins the server and the chan you are in.

Does the codec get reset for anyone else?

I'm on WinXP and my mate is on Win98. Our codecs are constantly being reset to CLEP 5.1k while we set it to GSM 16.4k since we're on broadband and don't mind losing 2kbps.

codec is not set per user but rather per channel. if you have some that want to use a higher codec and others that cant you can use subchannels and whisper keys to seperate the lowbandwidth people from the high bandwidth people. works rather nicely

*sigh* Always someone with every patch. Reading is so hard :) (even I can't do is sometimes)Just replace the old teamspeak binaries with the new one.
This means, replace the OLD TeamSpeak.exe with the one in this zipfile.

I second the motion for a "player has joined the CHANNEL" message. This was about the ONLY thing I ever liked about GameVoice. And, now that we are on a TS server with about 25 channels, it would be real nice to here "a users custom message" has joined the channel. If the user has no custom message then a simple "new user has joined the channel" message would be fine.

Thanks for a GREAT program by the way, TS is now WAY beyond any other voice comm's package I've used (GV, BC, TeamSound, etc...)

What I really liked about GV was the text-to-speech announcement of the player's name on join. Really helps to know who has just connected or dropped, esp in a match situation where you can't alt-tab to check the teamspeak channel.

Also, a suggestion: When text-to-speech should be implemented, a nifty feature would be a hotkey that says the names of all players currently in the channel. Really helpful to know who is in the channel and who isn't.

anyhow, very solid work going on here, I'm impressed and thank you for this great software! :)

PS: I also second the motion of adding a "joined channel" thingy

Perhaps someone can enlighten me about those voice messages that have wave files in the directory - but were never heard?

User joined / User left? What's the difference to Member joined / Member left?

New Speaker? Speaker left? Contact? He's outta here? Bye bye? Bye for now? See you soon? Speaker removed? Access denied?

What's the meaning of those?

=^_^= Assuming that the program is still able to whine "Fatal Error" when one's really occuring, what Error would that be?

Besides voice announcements of people who join the channel, I'd like to see a numerical precedence level attached to every registered user, the anonymous user account, and every type of announcement. The point of this would be to allow people with higher precedence to be heard over anyone else's voice when they're sending.

I would imagine that this would be tied to the database as an extra field. You could do an 8-bit field for precedence as 1 being the highest and 255 being the lowest (0 being reserved for whatever). It would be most convenient for this to be serverside so that every client would not have to set the precedence up. By default, a precedence level could be set to 100 for everything.

If two instances were sending, the one with the lower number would get its volume decreased. This could be done in several ways, proportionate to the difference in level, or just muted altogether, or just decreased in volume a set amount. I would like to see the muted altogether option.

If two instances with the same precedence send at the same time, no changes to the volume are made.

This precedence would be very useful for on-line gaming competition. People that would have the highest precedence would be people like group leaders. This is relevant because of the delay that this type of communication incurs and the frequency that people end up interrupting each other. It's also useful because there are people in groups who are deemed more important to hear than others.

I hope to see this seriously considered.

Thats a good idea.

Just a side note. If this is implemented, I would like to have a beep or some other short sound notification for the person/persons who get cut off.

I would like to install 23 patch but I can't because of missing libraries (
root@satrhaj:/usr/local/sbin# ldd TeamSpeak.bin
libqtintf-6.5-qt2.3.so => not found
libX11.so.6 => not found
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x4001e000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40036000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x4003a000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)
)
needed to run teamspeak.bin file.

Can you tell me what i did wrong? Or where I can find these libs?
Thx

Apparently it was not clear enough for Mravouk eh?

Mravouk
20-10-2002, 08:38
You are right. It's absolutely unclear to me. I try to patch linux version of TS (in .tar.bz2 file is only teamspeak.bin) server and there is not any zip file at all. Neither there is any exe file. I've never seen one in long long time on linux platforms.

So my question again. Please, what should I do with the binary file? I can't run it because I miss some of required libraries (and I'm unable to locate them).

Nagilum

Currently not running Linux, but I guess all you have to do is copy the teamspeak.bin to your teamspeak installation directory so the old teamspeak.bin gets replaced.

Hatswitch
20-10-2002, 20:47
Just replace your existing bin file with the new one.

kfsone
22-10-2002, 08:37
The ".bin" extension is probably just there to stop you unzipping the file into your teamspeak directory and instantly deleting the old version. (tar is not going to ask you if you want to overwrite).

So:

Step 1. Locate the existing teamspeak executable - either teamspeak, teamspeak.exe or teamspeak.bin
Step 2. Unzip the .bz2 file into the teamspeak 2 directory, making sure you shutdown teamspeak first.
Step 3. "mv" teamspeak.bin to $whatever_teamspeak_was_called, e.g. "mv teamspeak.bin teamspeak".
Step 4. Launch teamspeak the usual way.

Or just possibly, you don't have compatible versions of your libraries to run with recent versions of teamspeak (which could be what all those ld errors are about)

1. Bad response from server

Several of my users have to attempt connection multiple times before they can connect and stay connected. Typically they get disconnected immediately with a "bad response from server" error. To them it looks like they connected and then got disconnected, tho.

After a few attempts, they're connected, however.

Tonight, after a long, long session on voice while playing Neocron, I suddenly and repeatedly kept getting "your connection to the server has been terminated". Not wanting to alt-tab out of my neo session, I restarted the server from my laptop, and when I reconnected, for a while, it was fine. I was the only person *on* the server at this point.

After the server-restart, it was fine for another 10 minutes, then it started doing it again. And kept doing it until I manually disconnected and reconnected. This seems to be a linux:17.20-server and windows:23.23-client issue?

2. Drop-off

With the above set up, I occasionally find that I will hear my flat mate suddenly cut out (usually midway thru a word) and from that point on he can no-longer hear me. I can see his transmit light, and I show a transmit light indicating I am transmitting, but no-one on the server can hear me any more.

All I need to do is reconnect and its fixed. But its might annoying when you're playing games that do not like alt-tab.

My setup: Asus A7A-266, Athlon @ 1400Mhz, 512Mb PC133, Windows XP Pro SP 1, Hercules Fortissimo II with driver 2.03.

Those are the reasons we have also been forced to stop using TS2 compleatly for now and reverted back to TS1.

TS2 is simply too unreliable to be used in matchplaying becuse of the 2 above issues :(

I can only reproduce the second. Well, reproduce is the wrong word. It just happens then and on. The connection problems I don't see here, up to 15 users connecting day by day (Clan).

THAT is a GREAT idea! I'm XO of a small clan and I would LOVE to see something like that!
