View Full Version : More of a networking problem...
Im trying to run a ts server from a remote location. I can connect to the server when im on the same computer but thats about it. I cant, nor can anyone else, connect to it from outside the lan. I try pinging the ip and i get no response. The comp has a external ip and an internal ip.
So what im trying to figure out here is how do i can make someone from outside the lan be able to connect to that computer. Obviously teamspeak is not the problem but the network itself as the ip is not even pingable. Hope i made myself clear, any help would be appreciated thnx.
I guess you have a WAN and a LAN IP. LAN IP's are not beeing routed in the WAN so you'll not be able to ping them.
If you have a NAT access you should setup a port forwarding on the router.
PS: you're aware that this is not a network forum and that with the given info no serious help is possible ?
Im trying to run a ts server in a public building. Which means routers lan, wan, etc etc. I know this isnt a networking forum but im trying to run a ts server on that network, see how it all fits in? Anyways is this possible? I pointed the server to a certain webpost and it shows up with the external ip. Ive been given permision to run the server as they have more then enough bandwith if i can just figure out how to get it working. Chances are i probably wont but any help/ suggestions would be appreciated, thnx.
NO chance to help you cause there are thousands of possible ways how this LAN and it's connection to the WAN could be configured.
If inside this LAN private IP's are beeing used, then you will have to tell the translating device (will be most surely a router) to forward all TS traffic to the LAN PC the TS server is running on. This will require changing the configuration of the router or network.
So without access to the network configuration, you can't do much about this.
=> the only advice I can give you is to discuss this with the network admin.
