View Full Version : I can transmit, but if another sound is playing, it gets transmitted (w/headphones)
I'm able to transmit and recieve as usual, but if I'm playing a game or listening to an mp3, my friend can only hear a distorted version of the music.
I have headphones on, and the room is dead quiet.
I'm running Ubuntu Linux, and am using gnome.
Anyone know why the streams are crossing?
Thx,
Dean

soundcard?
any sound-daemons running? (only alsa with oss-support should run)
Soundcard = SB Audigy Gamer
I'm using esd as well as alsa... Will I have to kill esd every time I want to use TS?
I had heard rumors that TS was going to eventually support ARTS and ESD. Do you know if this is true?

PS. I don't know if I made it very clear above, but the system works fine as long as I don't transmit. I can listen at all times no matter what, and I can transmit and talk, as long as I haven't got any sound coming out of my headphones. When I have music or game noises playing, and I transmit, the noises get sent instead of my voice.
in the console start up alsamixer
go turn down PCM CAPTURE all the way
then ur fixed

hmmm... never tested that...
try what feld said, then if that doesn't work:
Just try without esd and see what happens... I guess that would work (ok, you should really use alsamixer before, to make sure the settings are correct).
EASY! Thanks for the tip :)
(feld's idea worked like a charm)
yeah no problem. that one stumped me a week ago too. so obvious..........
