I first read the DNS FAQ and got a DNS name from dyndns.org. now I can't figure out how to assign the dns name to teamspeak. I didn't see an option except to BoundToIp1= in the server.ini file. that didn't seem to work? or maybe it did and it still shows up as an IP # instead of DNS name.
I reset my router and it now resets my ISP IP # several times a day while it's running and it kicks everyone off the teakspeak server and they have to re-lookup the server name and get the new IP address. I was just wonder if assigning a dns name would be easier or not.
also, does anyone know what would cause my ISP to continually assign a new IP address while the system is running? it was working great until I installed my new firmware and reset my config of the router, and now it has wacked out on me?

Assigning the DNS is simple really. I personally use dyndns and have not had a problem with it. Once you have your information set up correctally in the SuperAdmin control panel you dont need to do any further tweaking. You do however need to tell your router that the correct port points to the correct computer. (Ex: incoming port incoming port 8767 points to the computer with the server. Static Port Forwarding) Most routers have that option.
Once you have that done, you will need to connect, on your local Subnet you will need to use the computers IP address. (Ex, if your server is on 192.168.1.100 then you need to use that internally. Externally you will use your IP provided by your ISP.) The only variation to that is if you are using a client on the machine you host the server on, in that case use the IP of 127.0.0.1:8767 or whatever port you used.) The DNS will point to your IP and just create a shortcut. The servers at dyndns.org are smart enough to know how to forward communication ports correctally. Just try that and it should work for you no problems. If not let us know!
Edit: Make sure that you are forwarding UDP ports and not TCP ports, The Server works through UDP.

You don't need the boundtoIP for a DNS name. As in the name, it's for binding IP's (not DNS names)

you better ask your ISP about this behaviour. However, it's not unusuall, that ISP assign new IP's (each day, each reconnect,....).
If this is a serious problem for you, what about a fix IP ? Ask your ISP

One thing you could try is a program that will auto-update your IP address with dyndns.org. They have a few listed on their site that will help take care of the update problem.
