ok i know this has been answed before but ive tried everything that ive found this hub didnt come with software i am running bellsouth dsl and i went in and did a port forwarding on the ports that was said to be used, but no one can still connect to my server. they are getting server off line.i can install the server on my main computer and they can connect but not the other computer does anyone have any ideas on this
- what's the difference between you the main PC (where access works) and the "second" PC (can it be accessed from the WAN, firewalls,...) ? How is is your network connected together ? Did you set the port forwarding to the "second" PC when you started the server on this PC ?
- a hub does not require SW as a hub sends the incomming traffic to any port attached to it (http://www.duxcw.com/faq/ics/diffrout.htm). There's nothing to configure on your hub.

ok im running windows 98 on the 2nd computer the wan is the same for both computers and the lan ip has 1 number different and i think i forwarded the ports to the 2nd computer.i cant connect by using the wan ip on either computers but others can connect to the main computer it is running xp
so you're behind a NAT and TS works for WAN users when run on the first PC ?
So far this sounds great (you configured your router correct) !
Now make sure that you setup the port forwarding correct when running the TS on the 2. PC (you only need to change the IP, unless you run it on a different port). Then make sure no firewall is blocking traffic on the 2. PC
- test if you can connect locally to your 2. PC
- then test WAN access to your second PC
remember, routers need some time to use the new rulesettings when changing the forwarding rule. If I don't restarte my old router, it takes sometimes quite a few minutes till access works (after changing some settings)

ok i can go in and connect with the ip that is shown with teamspeak 192.168... and so forth but when i try and use the wan ip 68.209...... ip it wont connect says server is down and the 2 pc doesnt have a firewall right now is there some where in windows 98 to do port forwarding or do i need to put ip's in manually oh by the way im about to pull my hair out trying to figure out what is wrong..lol
- DO NOT use the WAN IP within your LAN, it will most surely NOT work => ONLY use the LAN IP => YOU can't test the WAN Access by yourself, someone from outside you LAN has to test it
- port forwarding must be setup in the device / SW which is doing the address translation (WAN IP <-> LAN IP), this will be most surely your router
Actually, if you run to computers and one is winXP pro/home and the other one is either Linux or WinXp pro/Home then it is possible to use the WAN ip to connect to the TS server. But as guldi I will not recommend this use of the WAN ip.
Actually it's a limitation of the access device you're using (don't know if the winxp ICS has a problem with it as well). Many access devices can not handle requests from a LAN IP to the own WAN IP and send it back to a LAN IP (due to a forwarding).
I have notice that my Zyxel 642 is/was able to handle several such requests but not very reliable. As I once worked for a gateway dev. company, I'm pretty good aware that such kind of SW is a tricky thing to code and I'm not surprised that many low cost devices fail doing so.
By the way: When traveling from Paris to Berlin you wouldn't go over Rome but you'd take the direct path, wouldn0t you ? => use the LAN IP within the LAN, that's the direct path !
