Client and Server.....

Am I just being stupid??
I have searched forum because I want to host a TeamSpeak Server but I also want to be able to join it, do I install both server and client, then connect to my own server or what ????

I think I may have solved it by looking at some threads I run the server in background then when I connect I use the internal addres to connect using client, everyone else will use external address and port forwarding....
Am I right ?

if your behind a router you use port fowarding on port 8767 udp "default port" not your clients
