I recently purchased a SB Audigy X-Gamer and have had problems with system lockups and a high pitched noise from my speakers. I've done a bit of research on the matter and on the Creative forums it's known as the "squeal of death". At random times my system will lock up and squeal at me and I have to reboot my computer. At first this happened with any and all programs(games, surfing web, mp3's) but since I updated my BIOS and updated my MB drivers it has been restricted to a Day Of Defeat+TS combination. The lock up will occur anywhere from 5 minutes ingame to 2 hours with no specific cause that I can see.
When I installed my soundcard I had just finished a fresh install of WinXP Pro and all hardware was installed with XP compliant drivers that I downloaded from the manufacturers websites prior to my OS install. I've also installed my computer as a Standard PC as opposed to ASPI (a suggestion from Creative to 'fix' the problem) to reduce IRQ conflicts.
/edit
I've downloaded TS2.0 and was using it and Battlefield 1942 together and had the same lockup, however the squeal was a much lower tone.
Any suggestions or ideas?
my specs:
1.1 GhZ Athlon, ASUS A7Pro MB KT-133, 512 MB RAM (PC-133), 30 GB HD, GF3 Ti-200, SB Audigy X-Gamer, Win XP Pro SP1, DX8.1, TeamSpeak v1.5
