Hi all!

I have bought a new sound card recently. It is a C-Media CMI 8738 PCI 5.1 card. And i noticed that when TS runs in backround the woofer doesnt make any sound. If i exit TS, then it works again. Is it normal? My op.system is windows xp professional if it helps. THX in forward.

ts does not use all outputs for sound right and left channels are used for stero sound . if your able to point TS to you old card or onboard sound card with a cheep set of speakers or the old one's you got allready , then point your games to the nice 5.1 so when your in games you dont miss someone sneeking up on you becuse all the sounds are coming thru the same set

if its there you might as well use it. i got 10 speakers on my pc a 7.1 for games and my motherboard onboard sound for ts with a plain set of speakers works great ! and no one has ever bitched that they can hear the game too loud when i PPT. or get feed back in ts

THX for answer at first!

So the situation is the next:

If i enable the integrated sound-card then the 2 cards crash, and pc reboots.
So i can only use 1 card.

And do u mean that if TS runs in backround then it takes control of the sound-settings,and that's why i dont hear any bass in winamp when TS runs too?

in some cases a sound card will not share the whole card with other apps . in win 2000 pro you cant use 2 apps at all , so i came up with the 2 card work around for my sys . if in ts you pointed the inputs and outputs to onboard and in the game setting to the nice card it sould work ? i run my pc this way and love the seperated sound

i know what u mean, but it seems that windows xp cant handle 2 sound cards -it always reboots on start. ( or maybe they use the same irq ? - but i dont know how to change )
