I'm new to this produkt, but i have been introduced to it by an organization that needs a tool, for remote administrative communitation. Since the product is currently released in a version for the linux platfrom, I'm wondering if there are plans for releasing the sourcecode for system.? and if so, when will this happen?

Unless the developers turn around 180° - no.

and since the Server is beeing licensed to commercial users, I doubt the source will be released soon.

Why is it that if something is released on Linux many expect the source?
Just because its available to us does not mean you will see the source any more than if it is available on Windows platforms or OSX...

Availability on Linux != OSS

Because (this is a trend I've observed) many closed source drivers and applications that make it to Linux are often much buggier and harder to work with than open source ones. Why? Often the solution is found in relinking and recompiling.

Just because its available to us does not mean you will see the source any more than if it is available on Windows platforms or OSX.

And just because someone has made it available in some form does not mean it works.

I welcome any developers that want to release closed-source software on Linux. Several companies do so as their flagship product.

You need look no further than teamspeak (and this forum) for a binary that doesn't quite work right. Search for "teamspeak library problem" or "teamspeak amd64" for a number of kludges in working around this application.

Remember, a lot of people like open source not because they want something for nothing, but because they can FIX something and make it even more useful! This is definitely the case with teamspeak for linux; there's not even a 64bit native binary, a statically linked binary, or a response to the bizarre library problems people have with it!

It's fine to release something as closed source, but don't be surprised when people want the code when it isn't being maintained.

I can only (completly) disagree with you in one point:

As statet by the DEV's a long time ago: TS2 will not be further developped (until there would show up a serious bug). But this doesn't mean, the code isn't beeing maintained... TS3 is the next goal.

AMD64: there are lot's of example not beeing ready for 64 bit while lot's of people are waiting for it.....
