Well, first make sure that you can connect using localhost. Type in "localhost:8767" (without quotes) in the server address text box.

I have read the sticky fourms and FAQ already

I think I have my Teamspeak server set for local connection only, i.e. only i can loggin to it, and no one else can, how do i fix this.

once again i have already looked in the fourms and FAQ but i just can't seem to pin point the answer,

Thank You

hi there yes ive forwarded ports 8767 and upd and 8768 tcp
ive read in this and many forums and still the out side world cant connect. i can conect and speak ok from the two other machines on my network using Lan.
i really need to find sombody who is familier with my router (safecom swamr 54108)
im at the point were the router is going to get aqanted with the heaviest tool ive got in my tool box.

im sure the settings in my port forwarding are ok but i think theres something else in another menu thats got to be changed ie ,access control , static routing,or somthing else i dont no?

how do u create your own server
like public server 1 and 2

coz i wont 2 chat 2 my m8s on a server i made :)

sgtbenc
24-02-2006, 17:24
@unwanted wolf, on your server there is only one program running, but, you cna have multiple "Virtual Servers" within that one program. You need to login as your superadmin in the webadmin to set them up. I don't really recommend using TS for chating as it's kind of difficult (or at least more difficult then using another chat program).

Okay, I have read everything and still do not see my specific issue discussed, so I was hoping someone would be able to assist.

I have a dedicated server that I connect to via remote desktop. I installed the TS2 server and everything works perfect. However after disconnecting from the remote desktop the server program appears to time out and closes itself and is no longer available. This is not immediate, I can close the remote desktop and it will still run for a period of time, then all of a sudden go offline. I find if I keep the remote desktop connection going it runs the TS much longer, but I should not have to keep a live connection via remote desktop to have TS working, so I fear I am doing something wrong here.

When it is running, I have no problems or others have issues connecting and using. Everything works great.

Is there a way to run TS where it does not shut down after closing the Remote Desktop Connection? I am running a Windows 2003 Server if that helps.

btw, thank you all for TS, it works great when running!

28-02-2006, 15:47
Well I figured it out after asking for help (isnt that the way it normally works?)

It has to do with Windows sessions and remote desktop, so I changed those settings and everything should be fine. Thank you anyway. :D

28-02-2006, 15:50
@lordCav, Are you sute thjat you are actually "Disconnecting" instead of "Logging Off"? If so then try to use the Windows server binary. Get it in the downloads section (http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=downloads&id=6). Then read the FAQ (http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=faq&id=4&item=46#q46).

Hi, sorry if this has been previously posted, but I don't exactly find searching through 300+ replies to be all that sexy.

Here's the dealio -- Whenever I try to get onto my own server, it gives me that Server is not running on TS bullcrap. I tried getting help from an admin, but there's some ridiculous rule that they can't help via teh PMzors... I'm not complaining, just saying it's got to be just as ridiculous as gay marriage. Any hoo, upon downloading the TS server thing, I changed my password immediately. When I tried to change it in the web thing, which was in these steps:

4 - Navigating and Setting up Team Speak 2.0 while in the Web Browser
- Select your server
Users Manager
- click User Manager, then click on the tool button to the right of the admin
- Type in a new admin password in both the fields
- make sure you have selected both Server Admin & Super Server Admin
- Then click Save. A web browser Login/Password box will pop up, enter your new info and hit remember password then save.

First off, there was nothing allowing me to select both server admin & super admin, only Server Admin. And when I go to click "Save", it only tells me that it has been changed sucessfully, nothing pops up, I'm not prompted for anything, only a link that says "Continue" and takes me back to the main page where at the bottom it says "Have fun adminning this server" (or w/e).

PLEASE help!

3 - Registering Your Team Speak Server
- Start Team Speak 2.0
- Locate and open your Server log file using Word Pad
(c:/Program files/Teamspeak2/server)
- Locate your Login and password
- sample ( LoginName: admin LoginPW: bmjk3 )
- Right Click on the Team Speak 2.0 server icon in your tray and select ( Administration )
- You will be prompted to enter the login and pass you just retrieved from your Servers log file.
enter your info and save

Ok but I go and open my Teamspeak2_RC2 folder and I don't have any "server" document. I tried copying and pasting the adress but it wasn't a valid file. So do I have to use another document for the RC2 program?

Guys I want to be able to have a small channel on team speaks public servers for my clan. I dont want to try to create a server because im not that good with computers and the things that you have to do. Also the what i want is for my clan (wich is only 36 people but only about 10 people would use it at a time) to be able to talk while playing the game. So is it possible to create a channel on TS's public servers that only allows the people i want in and those i dont want out without having to pay any type of fees? Please guys if tried Ventrillo but you need a server to use that one, TS is the only one iv found that actually hosts its own public servers.

Thanx in advance.

Try one of the public servers. 213.202.254.117:8767 is one of them.

Sorry, but we do not allow registered channels on our official publics servers. Everbody would want one and we can't create dozens of channels for every clan on the world.

There are a lot of TeamSpeak servers in the world and even so called "Free-Hosters". I'm sure after searching for a while you will find a place where you can create your own registered channel for your clan.

Just have a look at the "Web Server List" in your TeamSpeak clients connect window.

Yes, unregistered channels are possible.

Connect to one of our public servers, open the 'Channels' menu and click 'Create Channel'.

For more details on creating channels, read the client manual page about creating channels.

You can read it online here: http://docs.teamspeak-einstieg.de/client-manual-eng/createchannel.htm

This didn't answer my Q. I made my server and its running fine but when i try to get in as registered like the instructions asy so it says my pass or username is wrong the only way i can get in is by being a guest.

SOOOOO. How do i get in as the Admin or Superadmin?

ScP
08-06-2006, 07:18
Please note that the superadmin account is only for web-adminning your server not to login via the client. Go to http://<server_ip>:14534, switch to the correct login page and login with your superadmin/admin account.

The following tutorial could be useful when connecting to your server as an admin:

4.log in as an anonommous
5.Register as an Server admin

This will most likely cause more "my server has been hacked!!!!111" threads in this forum. Giving unregistered users the permissions to do anything they want is like advertising your superadmin login on google.com.

There is absolutely no need to do this.

I attempted to set up a permanent channel on our server, which is a public server, however, if everyone logs out, it is of course gone...I attempted to register with the server but I cant as it wont allow it and also I cant find out who the server administrator is, so what do I do next or can someone detail how to do this out to me please. Thanks.

JD
19-07-2006, 22:22
Well if you dont own the server, then you cant change the permissions on it. So your best bet is to find a server that you CAN make permanent channels in.

You need to create a REGISTERED channel, not an UN-registered channel.

129.21.61.65:8767

That server allows you to make a registered channel after you register a user account. That should be all you need.

I have Teamspeak2_RC2 version 2.0.32.60 and I wanted to know how do you actually MAKE a server? I can't find anything that says "Make your server" or something like that and I don't have a "server" file in the C:\Program Files\Teamspeak2_RC2

I hope this question wasn't asked before but I didn't have time to search through the thousands of posts to maybe find something close to this.

*Edit*: I can't find the server.ini file

hey guys i have a simple simple question i would like to get answered real quick.

I cannot find my server on the Web server browser. Does this have to do with the portfowarding or what?

could some body just please put me in the right direction?

Bastian

The option "List public" must be enabled in the global server configuration in TeamSpeaks web administration interface.

You don't need any port-forwardings for this feature, but if you are running a firewall which blocks outgoing connections, you will have to open TCP port 45647 for outgoing connections so your TeamSpeak server can contact the weblist server.

This depends on how you are planning to use the software. Usage of the client software is 100% free of charge.

If you are planning to host a server, you might be subject to ATHP licensing fees. Read our FAQ for more information. We are not answering sales questions here.

If your router doesnt support NAT loopback, then you couldnt connect with your external IP

If other people still cant, thats a different story

Just got my TS up running, and i found out that if you are the DMZ, it makes it work like a charm. I am using some random router, but under the DMZ heading, all you had to do was put the last 3 digits of YOUR COMPUTER'S ip into it, then underneath, put the port which u wanted to work. So random fiddling for 2 hours really doesn help :)

So random fiddling for 2 hours really doesn help :)

the only thing is, having your pc in the DMZ, esentially puts it at the other side of the firewall

So you would need to run a decent software firewall on it

As all bad traffic end up knocking at its door...

I just found the setting that if you have off you can test your TS server using WAN IP while still in your network. Allows you to test if outsiders can test if you do not want to use http://ts2test.planetteamspeak.com/?page=step1 Will also allow you to test other ports.

For my router Linksys WRT300N

Make sure to forward your ports and make the firewall exceptions. The best site for guides is www.portforward.com Also make sure to download the beta version and put that file in the TS server directory and replace the old file. That will keep a lot of hackers away.

After that just get the people on and set it up the way you like. Here is the manual if you should run into something that you do not understand.

Depends on your network setup if you are suppose to have 2 ip's which computers by it. The Globe is your WAN and the Computer is the LAN.

You have to make sure that your firewall and port forwarding settings are correct for people outside your lan to connect.

I'm sorta new to this and I have a slight problem. I've done everything fairly accurately I think, my server is listed but I cannot connect directly from the list. When I change the address manually it seems to work but it'd the same address my router uses. Right now I'll forward the port and see if that helps any.

[Update - Forwarding the port through both routers didn't help.]

Is it possible that the TeamSpeak server list the wrong address?

Correction, now my server isn't listed at all.

And now it's listed again. This is some messed up stuff.

To be listed the server program sends a "ping" to the web list server. But for people to connect they need to be able to access the server. You have to forward the ports and make the firewall exceptions. www.portforward.com should help you with it all.

Also you have to use the lan ip as most routers will block you from using the wan ip. Use this to see if people outside your connection can connect http://ts2test.planetteamspeak.com/

You might also want to update your server. I saw is was 2.0.20.1. Just download the ts server that has the red text next to it and place the file in the ts server directory, after you have close the server down. This will prevent almost all of the ways that someone could hack your server.

Howdy, i recetly downloaded the TS2 Server and im now at the point where im stuck.

Ok, i have instaled, made a server (registered) and done all the basic stuff, now i set the server to running, so its up, but when i open my client to loginto that server, it wont let me... im guessing you are ment to use the IP which has the globe logo (i have tried it with the computer logo and it works fine im guessing thats for LAN use)

The error message that comes up is "No reply from server Maybe the server is offline or maybe teamspeak is not running on it" yet blantently it is >.<

Any ideas? do i have to purchase something for other people (those not on my LAN but in another country for example) connect to my server?

Please get bak to me ASAP as this is needed for a Clan which has just started and growinf very fast lol

If you want to use your online IP your have to forward your ports in the router.

EDIT: ok so im not to try them out 1 by 1, if i shoose 1 of the services it changes the port number, so im guessing i need to use a Manual Service... dunno if that means anything

How do i find Administrative options or is it the Administrative website where you logg-in as S-admin?
I'm trying to find: How do i get to it, someone help.
Q - In the Administration options under settings what is the difference between ( anyone and none )
- Anyone = anyone can log on as a guest and register to your Team speak server
- None = you have to register all your guests

webinterface is at your place http://127.0.0.1:14534 if the webadmin port hasn't been changed in the server.ini

To your question about the administrative settings: i have no idea what you're talking about. Could you explain what you mean eaxctly?

Well, its in the FAQ at the beginning of the post, I'm not sure what the default settings are so i would like to get to administrative options and check.

Please read following text carefully:

You aren't need (and in general You cannot) connect to Your own WAN address from inside of Your LAN.
Instead, You should in all tests connect to Your local server using either Your LAN address or (working on the same host) local loopback address.

For further explanation and list of test sets, please refer to this topic (http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=37522).

If it is on the same PC as Your client - You should use local address (either localhost (127.0.0.1) or whatever Your LAN address is), not Your WAN address.
Details You may find in the thread about using TS server behind router.

Hi, i have done all the tutorial says, but as i am using a router [IOGEAR GWA504] i need to Foward ports right? (8767 UDP) the problem is that i already Fowarded it but im not sure if i actually did it, nobody but me can connect to the server using my WAN IP ic an connect to the server whit my LAN IP

I can't find any tutorial on how to Foward ports on the IOGEAR router im using, using Virtual server, Special aplications in Router config... i'll gladly send in some Screenshots of the Virtual server look, (it doesnt have a UDP/TCP choice) so yeah, pretty confused.

Sorry english help appreciated...

BTW already checked, searched over internet and the How to run TS behind a router? guide...

Make the server have a password. Use the webadmin to set it.

ANR Daemon

Or at least protect the default channel with password.
That will work the same way as I know.

But I prefer to make default channel moderated. Anonimous users still able to log, but unable to eat much bandwidth trashtalking for my money.
