-=Common Server Questions=-

Q - What is the difference between a Admin and a Super Admin?
- Super Server Admins - administrate all the servers on that computer.
- Server Admin - administrate that server only.

Q - How can i make it so guest's cant create channels?
- Edit the ServerFlags line in the server.INI file to one of the below:
(register being authenticate with the server) (when set to 0 text messages also seem to be disabled )
0= no register, no create channel
1= can register, no create channel
2= all can create channels
3= all can register/all can create channel

Q - I cant connect to the Administrative options using my new password?
- You have to start your Team Speak 2.0 server by double clicking/opening the actual application (Short Cuts will not work)
- If you still cant connect, you will have to uninstall TeamSpeak 2.0,
- Manually Delete your TeamSpeak2 folder and all it contents.
- Reinstall Team Speak 2.0 and follow the server setup steps

- CELP 5.1Kbit
- CELP 6.3 Kbit
- GSM 14.8 Kbit
- GMS 16.4 Kbit
- CELP Windows 5.2Kbit

Q - While Creating a channel what are the different Check Box options
- Registered = Only Registered member can chat unless voiced by the Operator/Admin
- Moderated = Guests can join and chat
- Sub Channels = Selecting this will allow you to create Sub-Channels in that parent Channel
- Default = This is the channel the members will automatically join

Q - What is Voice Request?
- This allows a guest to speak in a registered room (admin's/Operators can allow)

Q - What is the difference between a (Clan Server and Public Server)?
- Clan Server = This server is used for your Teams/Clans use only it is not available for public use
- Public Server = This server is available to be used by guests (normally a public server would allow guests to create channels for their own use)

Q - In the Administration options under settings what is the difference between ( anyone and none )
- Anyone = anyone can log on as a guest and register to your Team speak server
- None = you have to register all your guests

If you are having trouble connecting to the TS2 server admin panel and you have ZA Pro installed then re-installing it will do NO good, even if you wpe the registry. havent foun out why yet(though I will eventually) but ZA PRO blocks the Admin login. All you get when you input the admin username and the password from the server log file is............. the boxes go blank again and no login. The only workaround I have found at present is to uninstall ZA Pro and install the free version. At High Internet security it works fine and that version of ZA should be sufficient for most home gamers uses.

If anyone knows why ZA Pro blocks the admin page and knows a way around it then I'd be most interested to hear. Incidentally I'm using XP Pro.

Until da trenches.....................

Hi, one thing about ZA. It's a great program, but if you have a router and you have NAT enabled and the firewall enabled with it, then you don't need ZA at all.

Now my question is, if you have ther ts2 server, can you run it for free? Or do you have to register it sooner or later? If you have register it, how much is it??????

You need to edit the server.ini file. Open it up in a text editor (Notepad) and look for the section [WebPost]. In that section, edit the line ISPCountry= with the country you want to put in. For example:
ISPCountry=USA.

|3art Simpson please check your computer's system date.
Reading this thread (DankRider nice job on the instructions btw) i realized that tweety bird's problem was probably his machine's system date. If you have a look at the log snippet he provided you see that "09-10-16" means 16 october 1909 (2009?) if using the yy-mm-dd format. The current TS2 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) will stop working on 2003-03-03. So if TS2 "thinks" you are way off the valid time range it will not let you do that.

@CRUSH77:
as far as I know, servers are currentyl not listed in the webserver list. In the last month this has caused big problems cause the amount of "open" TS servers has heavily increasd => too high traffic for the TS controll server

@CRUSH77
Good question ! What about goint in to the IRC chat and look there ? I assume there are people who can help you find servers.
Or connect to the public servers on www.teamspeak.org.

@tcd12642
Don't knwo this typ of firewall. But when you turn it off, I see no reason why it shouldn't work. But I recommand configuring the firewall so you can use TS and the wall.

You say:

4 - Connecting to a Server as a Guest, and saving our server in your addressbook
- Click (Connection/Connect) Select (Web Servers List) Locate and Highlight your desired server
then Select (Copy to local Addressbook)

But i can not get the list....

How can i?

Thanks for your patience...

if you know server IP's, you can save them in your Adressbook in TS. But you can not search (get) the entire weblist currently.

whenever i start my server back up, the ip changes, is there a way to have a permanent, uchanging address?

guldi
24-04-2003, 11:13
yes:

1) ask your provider to get a Fix IP. This will cost something !
2) use www.dyndns.org's service. You will find some info about this on this board (search) or read the FAQ of dyndns. Is's very clearly described !

Well, here goes another "n00b" question.....
I installed TS2 RC2 on a Linux server using the port 9110. When I try connecting using a Win client, I get the error bad name / password. I have set-up a username and I get the same message. I even tried using the admin and superadmin users with no luck and I know those are valid because I can log into the web admin page. I know I am connecting to the server because I don't get the "server not found" message and I can see the traffic increase on the stats page. Anyone have a suggestion?

Dummer Sack
03-08-2003, 00:56
If you connect via your local address book make sure you have checked the registred radio box.
Then there will be two fields. Login Name and Password. Here you have to enter your account data.
What you enter as a Nickname is irrelevant (As long it is not empty. If it is empty it will result in the error you received).

If there is only a field Server Password then you try to log in as an anonymous user.

Also check if loging in as an anonymous user works.

Wukkuan
03-08-2003, 03:36
Thank you. Yes, I have tried all 3 ways with no success. I have also created a tss user and group and given full permission to user, group and global and every combination in between :( I have ran as root, tss, my username.... /sigh

Dummer Sack
03-08-2003, 11:35
What are you talking about?
There are no groups or group permissions in TS2 (If you do not count the server permissions as groups).
I hope you are not talking about system users. Because they have absolutly nothing to do with your TS2 users.
You have to create TS2 users either by adding them via the user manager in the web interface of TS2 or by doing a register with server in the TS2 client.

If you are talking about the permissions of the files in your TS2 server directory, then of cause the user that runs your TS2 server has to have write access.
But if your registred users show up in the user manager of the TS2 web interface, then they are also in the database.

I have tried all 3 ways with no success
Does that mean that logging in as anonymous does not work either?

Wukkuan
03-08-2003, 23:57
Correct. Logging in as anon doesn't work either.
And yes, the owner of the directory is the tss user, but I opened the permissions just in case it would make a difference (it didn't). Currently I have 2 users I created and the superadmin and admin of which they all come back with bad login. I have tried from a WinME, WinXP and Win2k OS with no sucess either. I am sure it will be a simple setting somewhere (one that makes me smack my forehead), but I am just not seeing it.

Dummer Sack
04-08-2003, 00:49
Hmm I start to run out of options.

Maybe someone with more insight in TS than me should answer this question.

There is only one more thing that comes to my mind:
In your server.ini there is a variable called ServerFlags. Set it to 0 and clear the server password. Now try to log in as anon. If it still does not work as anon I don't know what may be wrong.

If no one aswers here (wait a while) maybe you should start a seperate thread in this forum. I think they will forgive you the crossposting.

Wukkuan
04-08-2003, 01:00
Thank you very much Dummer :)
Actually, there are currently 2 people on the server and I seem to be the only one that can't connect. I have a Cisco 827 router with all traffic open on all ports from the server. Perhaps it is an IOS / NAT issue? /shrug

Wukkuan
04-08-2003, 23:18
Ok... so this is a strange end. I installed Webpost, logged in that way and I had no problem. I re-tried the client and sure enough I could connect. /shrug Sunspots I tell you!!!!

Thank you for your time Dummer :)

TALN SERVER

i click connect and it says

[02:00:02] Connecting to 63.227.103.51:8767
[02:00:06] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it

But i can connect to other peoples servers.

I just downloaded Teamspeak tonight off this site so it should be uptodate.

guldi
13-08-2003, 10:15
'Your server' is running in your LAN ? So you are trying to connect from your LAN over the WAN IP to your server ?

if yes => bad idea dude !
Most router / access devices can't handle this. Connection from within your LAN must use the LAN IP of the server.
Only people from the WAN must use the WAN IP (=> port forwarding !).

TALNAUS
13-08-2003, 10:43
Thanks, i got it working over my lan. But since all my friends who use teamspeak are sleeping i was wondering if some one could see if u can connect via the internet.

--------------
EDIT

For some reason ppl cant connect, even tho the pc has full access and DMZ set on it on my router.

--------------
if you wondering what DMZ is

DMZ

The DMZ PC will receive all "Unknown" connections and data.

If an Internet application does not work, and it is not listed in Special Applications, try using the DMZ feature.

The DMZ PC is effectively outside the Firewall, so has less protection. Because of this, the DMZ should be enabled only when required

amen to that. if i had not taken the time to read both the FAQ, this thread and many other threads here about both the server and client id of been rather lost i think. it is not intuitive, but the information is mostly there.

i did have to guess on some of the stuff as even with the info that is out there it took a bit for my blonde head to figure out what to do with the codex stuff. took a guess and was right :D

anyways. thanks again for this neet little program. i look forward to testing it and stressing it hard to see just how far i can push this.

I am getting the "No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it" message.

I have attempted to set up my own server - its listed in the main web list: Nessies Server so I know it exists and I can admin it etc too. I have very very limited knoweldge of Team speak and computer waffle in genral so be gentle with me :p

I am using XP with a netgear modem router. I read somewhere in here soemthing about Lans, Wan, etc etc (abit of a pc noob here - learn as I go along). So I figured maybe I needed to port forward. Logged into my netgear management bit, and it seems I need not only the IP ( i know my server IP 81.79.132.84) but it asks me to put in the start port and the end port too. Where can I find this please? Or maybe that will not solve my problem at all and I am barking up the wrong lamp post?

Thanks in advance

Nessling

Edited PS I did read the readme file with this bit:

Q: Which ports does the TS2 Server use?
A. 8767 UDP, Server
How to change ? In the webadmin interface.

14534 TCP, WebInterface
How to change ? Location at server.ini: HTTPServer Port=14534

51234 TCP, tcpquery port
How to change ? Location at server.ini: TCPQueryPort=51234

To get server to work behind firewall, nat, masq you
need only to open/forward the 8767 UDP port.

but I am not quite sure waht to make of it

My e-mail has switched to jdawgg@sollice.net so if you tried to e-mail my old account, it might not have went through.

Anyway, I reiterate - if anybody has a problem that has not been answered here, just give me an e-mail. I check that much more frequently than here. And now, I will try to address those who posted:

Yes, you can host a TS server behind a router. Just make sure to have AT LEAST port UDP 8767 open. If you are going to run multiple servers, open up the proper UDP ports as well (for instance, I run 4 free servers, so I have 8767, 8768, 8769 and 8770 UDP ports open). There is a way to specify which ports to run on by default, but that is complicated and for now we just want to get you all going with a TeamSpeak server. However, I think 8767 MUST be opened (for web administration).

LarianLeQuella, you can contact me if you'd like and I can try to help you out with Video tutorial or voice chat step by step instructions.

OLD CLAN: Yes, you need to have your computer running always. Just because you set it up through a web administration does not mean somebody else is hosting for you. This also means, it will use your connection bandwidth and throughput, so if you are on DSL, dialup, or ISDN you might have trouble hosting a server with lots of users.

Devine: If you have ZoneAlarm on your computer, you must DISABLE it in order to log into the Web Administration to setup your server. If you are talking about you cannot connect to a server, make sure you have the recommended ports opened: UDP 8767, 14534 TCP, and 51234 TCP.

Again, e-mail me at jdawgg@sollice.net if you need further, faster help :).

Jdawgg

I'm having a problem with the TS server I just downloaded and installed. When I try to start up TS it won't start. I checked the log and here is the error message I'm receiving:

---------------------------------------------------------------

05-05-04 09:36:37,ERROR,All,GENERAL, critical error, shutdown initiated

I can still open up my old TS client program and log on to a friends server with no problem. I'm just unable to open up my own server program. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Thanks much.

EDIT: Just wanted to mention that when I open the directory for the ts server it does show the "sqlite.dll" in there, so I'm not sure why I'm getting the message that it can't be found.

@Tominator911
Before filling this forum with "useless" questions, would you please thinking just one sec./read manual/FAQ ?

useless = questions answered in the manual

your latest problem is probably due to a missing port forwarding (which is by the way mentioned in the manual). For port forwarding, there are LOT's of threads => search function

Tominator911
18-05-2004, 07:43
ok i did go to the manual 4 times and nothing, the manual did not help me, so if i wen't to the manual and found no help so i came here and asked for help.

and one more thing my ip is 192.168.0.162 i tried that and i tried this 192.168.0.162:8767 i am the only one who can get in but the others can't, the manual didn't help about that, and i can't find it in the manual.

You're dealing with a server and this require more then only the very basic about networking !

The IP you note here (192.168.0.162) is a LAN IP which can be and should be used ONLY inside your LAN. People from the WAN will not be able to use this IP.

You should have a second IP which is shown in the TS server auto IP detection with a world symbol (I'm quite sure this is in the manual) => your WAN IP. Unless you did not forward the TS server port, no one will be able to connect to your server (I assume you're behind a NAT access) with this WAN IP.

How to do the port forwarding:
This is highly dependable on your router/modem and as there are houndrets or thousands with different setups, it's impossible to cover them here => read your manual or ask in a specific network forum where they cover your access device.
In the T server manual, it's noted that you probably require this port forwarding. That's all info "we" can give you.

Tominator911,

If your external IP does not show in the box when you right click on the server icon (mine never did either for some reason) then go to http://www.whatismyip.com and it will tell you your EXTERNAL IP. your 192.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address is internal, as guldi said, and other users cannot connect to that.

You also must get into your Web administration panel with the login information provided when you first installed the server. If you have never logged into the web administration panel, your friends will not be able to connect regardless of whether they try your external IP or not. Reason being - your server is not technically "started" by just double clicking the icon. You may be able to log onto it because it is internally running, but you have not actually started the server.

22-05-2004, 05:56
I have heard a lot about the Windows XP Firewall - I have never had it turned on, and never figured out how to turn it on. I use software firewall, software antivirus, and a hardware firewall as my security. If ZoneAlarm got in the way of TeamSpeak, it is more than likely the Windows XP firewall does the same.

Just do a search on Google for "how do disable Windows XP Firewall" and it will turn up with results.

Alright I definatley need HELP! Here is the details of my problem, which is the same as everyone elses :D . I have 2 systems (#1 Static LAN IP 20.20.20.101 #2 DHCP LAN IP 20.20.20.102) connected to a Linksys Router (LAN IP 20.20.20.1) and the Router is connected to a DSL Modem (WAN IP 63.227.46.53). Now the TS RS is setup on #1 and TS RC is setup on #2. On my router I have ports 8765 - 8770 UDP forwarded to #1, and I also have #1 in the DMZ. I have no problem connecting from #2 TS RC to #1, but everyone else outside my LAN cannot connect using the WAN IP. I have also tested it from out side my LAN using the WAN IP with no success. However, my server does showup on the Web Server List if you do a filter for Myers. Here are is my log after trying to connect to the TS RS from outside my LAN.

Since this post could possibly help everyone that is having the same problem, but might not know some of the basic computer terms here they are.

LAN = Local Area Network. This is all home computers that are connected to a router, which is connected to your modem.

WAN = Wide Area Network. This is the internet. WAN IP is the IP Address that is assigned to your modem.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

nota: the server.pid is created as well

i have no firewall launched; no jails; and no application holding the range of ports necessary.
any idea for this crappy onboard web server?

10-07-2004, 18:18
Yes, I agree with Ch'Ih - you need to stop cross-posting and a question like that is quite easily found via a search, and in fact, the very first post in this thread will tell you what is wrong.

If all else fails, go to the FAQ and read the posts there - the posts are all made by mods, and not by the average-joe, so they will be correct. So if you need to know how to forward the proper ports, configure a server - go to the FAQ forum!

Just do it... just double click the server icon (and assuming you have it setup correctly) launch the client as well and connect to your server. For details on how to setup the server and client, read the original post in this thread and reference the FAQ forum.

The answer to your question is YES it is possible.

We have a problem getting into 2 of the servers we use for Teamspeak. It appears that if a server has been running for some time people cannot join server.
We shut down server and client and restart them which seems to work. These servers are left running for our squad use and are left unattended at times. We have found that if someone puts up their server we can all join.
This problem seems to be caused by server running for 48 hrs or more.It doesn't allways happen either. Can you help?

Well, that sounds like it might be a host problem. What is the ISP of the host for the server? If it is DSL then it might not allow a connection to be lasting that long and is just stopping the transfer of packets for that particular process. That would explain why restarting the server fixes the problem.

I mean, I really cannot help unless I were to be at your computer. It sounds like you have it all configured right, so it has to be some non-TeamSpeak related flaw. Try hosting off a different computer / different ISP and see if it fixes the problem, that will tell you for sure whether it is the ISP or not.

To -{D$H}-PhanToM, you need to read the server setup tutorial posted on the very first page of this thread. Also reference this video tutorial:

http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?p=64517#post64517

It is most likely a router problem or you did not start the server via the Web Admin. Also be sure you are giving others and entering your EXTERNAL IP not your INTERNAL IP. My tutorial also shows you how to find your external IP should you not know.

To dk10016, Too vague of an error report. If you loaded it up again make sure you loaded the TS2 Server and not the client. Also make sure you do not have 2 servers running at once. If you want to give more of a detailed report than "I loaded it up again and it wouldn't load" then I might be able to help a little more :). However, just go read the FAQ section and watch my setup tutorial - both will help regardless.

To Kris, make sure you only have 1 TS2 server running as well. The administration icon will gray out for one of them, so be sure to only have one of the "server_windows.exe" processes running at a time. Watch my video tutorial to see how to port forward, because that might be the culpret as well. 90% of the errors are either Router related or other forms of port blocking where the TeamSpeak server cannot communicate with the internet. Make sure your Zone Alarm (if you have it) is not blocking out TeamSpeak server. Do you have Zone Alarm?

-=BZDP=-Nemesis

i had the same prob. wot you need to do is go into the ZA pro firewall settings > Exert, and add a new rule that allows connection to your TS server.

See enclosed image.. (hope it shows up)

Note: Change localhost to the IP of your server
and just mess with the rest till it works for you :)

JD
02-08-2004, 15:34
Does the search engine say:

"We can't find _____"
You can try again by typing the URL in the address bar above.
Or, search the Web:

And then there is a search box? That is not really a search engine, it just means when you tried to login to your web admin it was entering a URL that was incorrect. When logging into your own web admin, the URL should be:

http://localhost:14534/slogin.html

Or, if that doesn't work, try entering the EXTERNAL IP that your TS server is running on and make it port 14534. So like this

http://YOUR.IP:14534

Try that out and get back to me. Note that if you have a router, then you will need to forward port 14534 as well as UDP 8767. If you do not have a router nor firewall, you are pretty wide open to viruses and trojans, so I bet you probably have a router and just do not know it. Double check to make sure you don't have a router ;).

That message is the most common thing. First, you need to make sure that whatever computer the TS server is hosted off of has the UDP port 8767 forwarded to it from your router. That is most likely what is causing your problem.

Then, log into the web admin (by right clicking on the server icon in the system tray) and going to "Administration." From there, go to Servers in the nav bar and make sure the server is started. If you see an icon that says "Start" than click it, otherwise all should be good so long as you forwarded those ports.

Info on HOW to forward ports is in the FAQ, probably still on the front page. When in doubt, use the Search function at the top of the forums and type in "Port Forwarding" and you will get all the results you could ever want.

2= all can create channels
3= all can register/all can create channel

Q - I cant connect to the Administrative options using my new password?
- You have to start your Team Speak 2.0 server by double clicking/opening the actual application (Short Cuts will not work)

- CELP 5.1Kbit
- CELP 6.3 Kbit
- GSM 14.8 Kbit
- GMS 16.4 Kbit
- CELP Windows 5.2Kbit

Q - While Creating a channel what are the different Check Box options

================================================== ================

If you did not guess already, that was an exact copy and paste of what is the original post in this thread... It tells you step by step what to do... What was the point of asking? Are you having a specific problem with anything, or are you just too lazy to read through the long tutorial and are expecting someone to hold your hand through it? :) it is all right there, just read it...

yeah sure. go to your router web page. usually 192.168.1.1. just type that into your adress bar. then you need a password. usually admin. then you (what type of router you have? this is linksys) go to the advanced tab and then forwarding at the top. then it gives you the firts digits of your ip, 192.168.1., then place in the box after that the last 2 or 3 digits of your ip. on the far left place in a label simply as TS2. for the Ext.Port place in 8767 in both those boxes. click the check box for this under Protocol UDP. then press enable on the far right. then apply. it says somthing like

Saving Settings
You will be retuned to the page in 8 seconds

then, close out teh page and try it. im still working on firewalls on WinXP Proif i could get some help with anyone here on that. thakns

Dank Rider, how do you pick team speak servers when you list the internet servers in a game, CODUO is the main game I play, new to it, I actually got ts to work on one server. I think I have the steps down I just need more help. I tried to find a way to download your manual but for some reason it didn't work I'm sure it is a faulty user problem, but could sure use the manual.
I have to load teamspeak, but once loaded how do you get teamspeak to load a list of servers?
If it loads a list of servers, then how can you get it to load your game. if that is how you do it. If you load a server and it opens the ts, then you have to load the game, pick that server and if it is not full then you get on and it should work, is that right? but what if you selected axis and get moved because of balancing to the allies, now you are talkng to the enemy.

I am sure that I do not have everything loaded correctly, but it has been ten years since I had to do anything except business on a sytem and all the new stuff available is amazing, would like to learn, it correctly. Would you email me the manual you put together my email is rickjaynes@cox.net it would be nice to pick the brain of someone that can give instructions; my grandson says he doesn' know how to solve a problem he set it up and it worked on the entered ip but that is all. Help would be appreciated, thanks in advance, I even have trouble finding my posts to read replies since I only get a few hours a week to be online; my grankids have work to do with chat and all and naturally that is more important, I'm suposed to know that.

I have read every page in this thread (yes oll 11 of them) and haven't found an answer (that has been asked before) to this question.

I followed the instructions step by step which are outlined in the first post. I read everyone of the FAQ questions underneath the instructions. I even read the FAQ questions on the Teamspeak website. I have even done a few other things that have been outlined in previous posts to previous questions.

I can log onto Teamspeak as admin, other people can find my server in the list but can't connect.

I allowed Teamspeak to work through my windows firewall (WIN XP). Didn't work.
I opened UDPPort 8767 in my firewall. Didn't work.
I disabled Teamspeak but left the port open. Didn't work.

Like I said, I'm pretty sure I have tried everything I can. I wanted to make sure I did before I posted here coz I didn't want to get into trouble lol.

I am stuck.

I have read something about opening a port but I didn't get anything about the story.
could you explain me?

PAw_Paw:

Do you have ZomeAlarm Pro enabled? If so, disable it (right click and say "shut down ZoneAlarm) and then try logging into the SuperAdmin as you tried before.

sjoerd:

It's called port forwarding. What kind of Router do you own? Linksys, D-Link? I will try to explain how to forward the necessary ports, but I need to know what brand of Router you have.

If you are not sure if you own a router, ask your parents.

I figure your talking about one of the many TS2 blocks for PHP-Nuke. This is the wrong place to ask about that - this topic is for discussion how to setup a TS2 server, which you already have by the looks of it.

Not to mention, saying you have a block for TeamSpeak is probably too vague for a lot of people, unless they've managed their own PHP-Nuke website...

Hello all,

I have installed TS on my Debian server. It's running fine. I can log in with the client on my LAN.
But no one on the WAN can log in.
I have a Thomson 510V4 router, and I am only using NAT. So I configured port UDP 8767 on my router and forwarded it to my server. Doesn't work.
I created another virtual server, using UDP 12000. No luck.
I tried to find a website that could scan UDP ports, no luck.
I think I will try to scan my own PC from work, so make sure that UDP ports are opened but since the configuration of the router is correct, I don't see why it's not working...

LeKeiser
25-04-2005, 08:50
Hello again,

I scanned my public IP to see if 8767 UDP was open or not. And it is :

Starting nmap 3.81 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap ) at 2005-04-25 09:45 Romance
Daylight Time
Interesting ports on bgn92-XXXXXXXXX.proxad.net (XX.XX.XX.XX):
PORT STATE SERVICE
8767/udp open|filtered unknown

Nmap finished: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.401 seconds

So the port is open, this means the configuration of the router is good.
But no one can connect.

Any idea?

JD
25-04-2005, 22:21
You seem knowledgable beyond the majority with this problem :).

It is most probably a port forwarding issue. If your network has multiple internal IP's operating, be sure you didn't accidentally forward the port to a computer which the TS server is not running on.

Let me know if it was a simple problem like that. There are a couple other things we can try if that is not the case.

Search the forums... Or just look at the FAQ forum - it is a sticky I believe.

At any rate, you need to go to www.whatismyip.com for your real IP - but people wont be able to connect until you get the ports forwarded too, which is explained in the FAQ forum.

Man o Man! what a pain in the ###!
first, ... I downloaded ts2_server_rc2_20201.exe . My home network is a linksys router and two xp(sp2) compters. DHCP, Nat and the firewall is enabled(by default) on the router. I am following the directions on this thread VERY carefully!!!!!!

I followed the directions, and these directions (setting up a server) say "- - make sure you have selected both Server Admin & Super Server Admin" Problem here is... I have a Server Admin radio button, but no Super Server Admin Button to click! WASSSUP!
THEN its says..
"- Then click Save. A web browser Login/Password box will pop up, enter your new info and hit remember password then save."
No Login/Password box pops up here! Wassssup!
AND
"- Player registration Mode"
whats that ! I dont see it! wassssup!~
oh yeah! and I got this from my serverlog file.
"12-06-05 22:05:28,ERROR,All,frmMain, unable to detect external ip"
I even set up my xp machines ip address to be set outside the router through the DMZ feature on the router. Bad idea?

Anyway, I am very happy there are people in this site that are so willing to help the near suicidal(from frustration) people like me! One thing is for sure, TS in NOT easy! . I will be back every day untill I can host a chat for my clan in a public CSS server. OOO maybe thats not possible!!@! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH SHOOOT ME!

Try following my more up-to-date tutorial. I agree, this one that we are currently in can be quite confusing.

OK, I've checked everything and read all post here. I can connect to my sever via local network. I can not via wan. The server is set to dmz zone with all ports fowarded in dsl box. Everything is fowarding to my computer. I'm not using a router/firewall. Windows firewall is off. I've logged into admin and superadmin and made sure server is set to run. I can join other TS servers without a problem. I tried binding ip to my wan ip adress in ini file. Still nobody from outside can connect. I have two other freinds with the same problem. Me and 1 other being computer network techs. 1 of us is on cable modem, 2 on dsl. please someone help. This can not be a port problem, it has to be a TS setting problem.

Ok, figured it out. Reset my dsl to obtain a different ip and it worked. Apparently there was something wrong with outbound routing on that ip. I used tracerout to check yahoo and it worked, but my friends ips did not. (|start|run|cmd| in dos type "tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx") I only got 2 hops to friends ips. After getting new ip, everything works great. Even without port fowarding or a dmz.

I have installed and set up the win 32 server on a computer that is at my uncles house which is always on. I can access the server from my own house but it will not allow me to login to the superadmin or admin account. How would i go about in logging in to the administration account on that teamspeak server without running them from my own computer? I have tried logging in through right clicking on the server icon and clicking administration but I can only access the admin account when im using my uncles computer and im not over at his house often or close enough to go there. Is there some way to login and edit the server still without having to be there at the computer the server is running on and access the super admin and admin through my computer? Please let me know if anyone has ideas or answers regarding my problem.

By default it runs on TCP port 14534 - so just forward TCP port 14534 and then go into Internet Explorer and type in: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:14534 and you can log in as admin or superadmin from a remote computer.

OK. So yesterday I downloaded a Teamspeak server. I have all the channels set up and stuff, but so far I'm the only one who can access it. I also checked the web server list to see if it showed up on that, but alas it does not. I just can't figure out why no one else can get on it.

It's a Port Forwarding problem (you have a router or firewall that is blocking connections on UDP port 8767) - use the Search button at the top and search for "Port Forwarding" - there are HUNDREDS of topics on it.

Nevermind... Set a server password and it is done... more or less.

==================================================

I would like to apologize in advance if this seems like a silly n00b question. I am running TS server v2.0.r20.b1 Win32. I have seen several posts mentioning a "Player registration Mode" configuration setting. However, I do not seem to be able to find that option in the TS superadmin or admin management interfaces. Can someone tell me 1) where I can find that configuration option and/or 2) what ini entry that configuration option sets and how I would set it to deny all anonymous logons to my server? My goal is to allow only pre-registered users to log on. Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
-g

Okay, here's my question:

This is the first forum I've ever ever on this site so I don't know if this is the wrong place for this but here goes.

I'm totally done with my server, no problems whatsoever, except no one's tried to join yet so I don't know if I'll have a problem with that
But I created a channel when I first entered the server and then I disconnected and when I came back the channel was gone.

Is there a way for me to keep my channels open 24/7 without having the server on 24/7?

Try this tutorial:
http://www.cod2hq.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=54&

And if that doesn't fix your problem, let me know. It is likely a Port Forwarding problem (in which case I link you to some Port Forwarding resources).

The Bum:
It is a port forwarding problem. Follow the links in my tutorial for help on that. Or search for "Port Forwarding" on this forum.

Zanwolf:
Port Forwarding.... You said it yourself, you have a router and firewall; you'll need to forward port 8767 of your router to your computer that hosts TS. Follow my previous advice for this.

BlackDrago:
You clearly didn't read this thread, and just posted... Please read at least the first post on this thread which should answer those questions, or go to the link I provided for a more up-to-date tutorial.

Hi. New here (though not to forums) and I had a problem with my Primary HD. I had to back up everything to my secondary, then reformat, then I reintalled my programs. I have found that if i reinstall my TS Server, everything is gone! My Clan rooms are no longer there, and I cant even find it by using my former Superadmin Password. (And no its NOT Superadmnin. i changed THAT a long time ago). now the server seems to think its new again. I am not sure what to do. Help anyone?

Bastian

This is because you did not backup the 3 files you need: server.dbs, server.ini, server.log. If any of these 3 files is missing the servers thinks it's a new install and creates these 3 files so your old server.dbs (if present) will be overwritten and all information inside are lost forever unless you have a backup.

If you still have a copy of your old server.dbs you can create the other 2 files and leave them empty or you can copy it over the automatically created 3 files when starting the server the first time.

Don't forget to shut down the server before doing this to avoid problems.

Gogita -

You need to connect to your own server through your INTERNAL IP Address rather than the external IP address. So use the 192.168.x.x IP or type in the word "localhost" without the quotes when trying to connect to your server.

localhost:8767

or

192.168.x.x:8767

You cannot connect to your WAN address because you are on the wrong side of your router and aren't going to be able to connect to that particular address.

Krumbler -

I bet you just made the channel "Unregistered" - when you create a channel and see the letter "U" next to it, it will disappear after you leave it. Make sure when you create the channel you have the "Registered" flag checked at the bottom of the popup window.

RTFM ;).

I'm not extremely familar with teamspeak server running and such.
im tryin to run a small server for up to 5 people or so
i've gotten as far as seeing my server in the web server list
but when i go to finish following the directions given, i get the error
no reply from server maybe server is offline etc.

me and my cousin are trying to figure it out, we've each started a server
we can't manage to connect at all
we've both gone through and did the web based stuff, registering both
logins with passwords all that good stuff and still nothing.

is there anything anyone can think of or suggest

also, we are both behind routers and are given 2 IP's in the server icon in the tray.
