View Full Version : Won't run with the 2.6.10 kernels?
Hey i'm a gentooer and I just upgraded to 2.6.10-r1 today. When I boot into my old kernel 2.6.9-gentoo-r9 I can start Teamspeak. If i am in my .10 kernel I cannot. If i start it from a console it immediately says "Killed". Any ideas? Re-emerging it doesnt help.

It appears to be limited to something in the gentoo-dev-sources patches, the -ck sources and possibly others work fine. (I have Gentoo as well, and have experienced that problem too)
I have actually lodged a bug with the Gentoo bugzilla regarding the server:

I too run the hardened kernel, 2.6.7 works fine, 2.6.10 gives me the exact same result as you are seeing with the client.
We'll see what happens... :)
Hum,
maybe you have pax enabled? Pax has been known to kill the teamspeak2 server for unknown reasons.
I don't have pax enabled, but I do have some of the grsec options turned on.
Even so, I have the same grsec options on under 2.6.7 and it works fine.
Actually, hardened-dev-sources-2.6.10-r3 has just been released.
Will see how it goes with that kernel.
Nope, doesn't work with 2.6.10-r3 either, same problem...

hmmm... just updated my kernel from sys-kernel/ck-sources-2.6.9-r2 to sys-kernel/gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r6 investigate...
For me both work: ts2-client and server.
If you want you can visit our irc-channel (see signature) and get my .config, I just don't want to post it for everyone...

I got the same problem with a vanilla 2.6.11-rc2 linux kernel. By the contrary, 2.6.10 is ok for me. So, it sounds like that the origin comes from some patches in the -rc series and probably also applied in gentoo branch (ALSA updates, maybe?).

Hi guys. I've a similar problem.
Running a 2.6.10 kernel with grsec patchset on deb unstable. I can start the teamspeak client. But thats it. I can start it... ;)
Every function (f.e. -> connect) results in a freezed ts2client. No error messages, nothing.
Strace gives no hints too.
2.6.8 worked fine, but I didnt tried it with grsec.
Maybe somebody has info's what thats all about (grsec or kernel problem).

I had a strange observation with TS under FC3 and 2.6.9, now I have switched to 2.6.10 and the observation continues.
If I just start TS Client and Connect to the server, I get everything muted as others have observed. If I set the sound source to the network setting, connect to the server I have green light but (clearly) it will not work. If I then (while connected) go back into the settings tab and select oss /dev/dsp, everything works perfectly, would be curious to see if others have the same observation, perhaps there is a bug in the initialization of the driver and a different path is followed in this scenario.

Good news: vanilla linux kernel 2.6.11 is Ok with teamspeak. Something has been fixed through the -rc releases.
PD. [Just whining] Native ALSA support would be so nice... (or Teamspeak 3, where art thou? ;))
