I havent been serving TS for a huge amount of time, however, here is the run down.
TS server (rc2) is running dedicated on a machine on my internal network. Linksys router, with the correct fowarded ports (After reading the FAQ and other threads, more than whats needed)
It has been running excellent for the past few months. Anyone on the internal network, or anyone outside the network could connect. Its made playing EQ2 a lot easier.
This morning (Im at work) I try logging into it, to listen in on whos in the server.. Cannot connect error.. Hmm. Ok, the machine has perhaps crashed. Remote desktop to the machine. (Again Im at work), TS is up and running, machine is fine. Of course, check the IP lookup thing, and the external IP is not listed. (Which I read is not a problem). I can get all the machines on the internal network to log to it. Nothing from the outside (WAN) can connect. So Ive been reading here for a solution.
The serving machine is a P4 2.53 with a gig of RDRam. WinXP SP1 (Ive read there were problems with SP2) and really no other software on the machine.
Keep in mind, the machine had not restarted (or crashed) and TS was continuously running for the past few weeks.. What has changed that will not allow those outside of the network to not be able to connect to it? I know the routers are working, otherwise I wouldnt be able to remote desktop to the machine. Again, all the correct ports have been fowarded to the serving machine, and Im at a loss. Ive tried the BINDtoIP trick, and has done nothing to help.. Anyone have any ideas?
- Ive tried restarting the machine
- Ive tried reinstalling the server software
- Ive added the extra forwarded ports
- Ive held my left index finger in my nose, while saying 5 hail Marys
Ideas??
