View Full Version : TS + Wow: I can't hear, the others hear too loud

I searched and I didn't see anyone reporting this problem, so let me ask here for help/suggestions/etc.

I've downloaded TS Client, started it up and tested it against the test servers. Fine.
Then I started World of Warcraft (WoW), and a guildmate passed me the ip of the TS server he was using.

So, I connected to that server.
I see his name and mine in the channel.
Next I tried to speak.
First problem: he kept on saying my volume was way way loud. I tried turning down every volume control I found, but that didn't seem to make any difference.

Second problem: I could not hear him (nor others that joined us on the channel).

I'm using a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS audio card,
and a headset+mic from Logitech (the system should be ok since it worked when playing Unreal Tournament 2k4).

Suggestion?

Thanks in advance,
F.O.R.

Have you tried the built in windows volume controls?

These also affect TS

Yes, virus.
Tried those and didn't make any diff :-(

Thanks for the tip anyway,

ok here is a problem i had when i installed the same card you currently have...TS2 doesn't automatically change drivers when you install a new driver, at least it didn't with mine... so that could solve it...if it doesn't then i'll check around on that problem...

EnFission, thanks for the suggestion.

I have not changed the sound card since I installed TS, but I figured I would check anyway just in case I updated the drivers since then.
So I opened TS and I get this error message (which I've never seen before):

Error:
TDSoundIn.Open: no sound driver is available for use.

After clicking ok, I get the usual TS window.
I got this error only if I start TS without my mic/headset plugged in, so I think it's just telling me there's no driver for the mic. (if I open TS when the headset/mic is plugged, I don't get the error msg).
But you certainly seem to know better than I, so I figured I'd post.

Also, how can I tell TS to use a specific audio driver?
I checked the FAQ but nothing seemed immediately related.

Thanks again,
F.O.R.
